Dallas Mavericks (NBA) player Raymond Felton pleads guilty to FELONY ... never threatened anyone with his pistol, was never arrested, nor charged with any crime other than the violation of state law ... "His pistol held about 20 rounds ..."

Ah, New Yorkers, I feel so bad for you when I read this stuff. You are welcome in Free America should you ever decide to leave your state of bondage.
 
About a week after Felton's law student wife filed for divorce, her attorney brought a loaded semi-automatic handgun to a police precinct and said it was Felton's and she wanted it out of the house, authorities said. Walden has said Felton never threatened anyone with the gun.

After police contacted Felton, he turned himself in shortly after a Mavericks-Knicks game at Madison Square Garden.

Felton was charged under a state law that bans many large-capacity ammunition magazines. Prosecutors said Felton's could hold about 20 rounds.

Wow, someone who most likely can afford a good lawyer and just doesn't use his head. To start off, have the lawyer ask, "was it NY state registered to my client?" is a good start.... If he bought it face to face, there may not be a record of his owning it. But this guy just rolled over :confused:

Men with money need to stop looking only skin deep when it comes to choosing their mate. That was a way below the belt despicable move on his ex wife's and his wife's attorney's part.

He most likely did consult with a lawyer and new that it could be traced back to him so he worked out a plea deal to get no jail time. The wife is some piece of work.
 
What the real BS is you can be charged for a FELONY for the possession of a mag over 10 rounds. But if you have a unregistered assault rifle it's a mista meaner. This seems to be a back door measure to charge someone with a felony for just a mag that will allow the state to seize your fiararms. If convicted of a Felony you can no longer own firearms. This is BS. How many gun owners/collectors even complying with the SAFE ACT may forget about a single mag that holds over 10 rounds?

Be careful what you wish for. Just like when Californians moved to other states and brought their screwed up values with them. "That's not how we did it back home." No, they're NOT welcome.
 
Sorry, WA isn't exactly the totally free state either

While a pro player isn't typically the smartest person in the room, his manager is; and the fact that his manager didn't get the best legal defense is a shame

What state is? We're working on it. We don't have registration, FOIDs, we do have shall-issue with NO training requirements (for longer than any other state in the country), open carry is legal and pretty much accepted throughout the state, we have suppressors, if you've got a CPL you walk out of the store with your new handgun, and we're working on getting full-auto. Constitutional carry would be the ideal and as the concept spreads, it's probably not going to be off the table here.

My point is that those New Yorkers who desire to live in a state with far fewer stupid firearms restrictions are welcome here, as they should be in any state. I know many a former Californian who migrated up here to enjoy our more favorable gun culture.

Was the *magazine* traceable to him? He could have claimed that the mag obviously belonged to his wife's attorney, who stole the gun to set him up.

... and here I thought that all of the states were our states. You know... the United States or America!

With that attitude, we'd all be living in Plymouth or Jamestown or something; Never to have gotten past the 16 colonies for sure.
 
This was accidentally deleted by another mod who I think meant to just close it. His stated reason was that it had drifted too far into non-RKBA politics.
