I haven't found an online supplier that will sell by the case ............. would you tell us who this supplier is?
Steve H - sgammo will sell .22 by the case - it is sold as individual boxes/bulk packs, but they don't limit on how many are ordered, so you could buy a case.

Also when Graf's gets .22 in you can buy a case quantity too. But like anything with .22 ammo, one needs to be fast in ordering. Last time I saw .22 at graf's it sold out in a little less than an hour.

There might be other places too. Gander mountain used to limit an order to 10 boxes - so if 10 of the 300 ct. cci choot 'em edition were ordered - then that would be a case (of those). Gander Mountain now limits orders to less (last time the 300 ct. cci choot 'em editions were limited to 1 box per customer).

Hope this helps. :)

I feel very fortunate. After Obama was elected the first time around, I took some $ out of savings and stocked up good on .22. At the time, there were tables full of the stuff. Even with all I purchased, had I known it was going to get this bad for this long, I would have spent 3 or 4 times what I did.

I had no idea what a boon I had until I started reloading about 2 years ago. Getting my hands on powder, primers or even press parts was a nightmare until people found out that I had .22 ammo and then trading for what I needed was easy.

Just a few weeks ago, I was able to trade 3 bricks for a baby hand-fed African Grey parrot. The guy who owned her was never around to take care of her and, once he heard I had some .22, he wanted to deal. He offered to trade her for 2 bricks! I gave him 3 and still feel like I made out like a bandit.

Even so, my stash is getting low. If things don't turn around soon, my .22 firearms will be shelved as well. I do understand many of the manufacturers not being willing to build up more production for the fear that demand will decline but, if I was a manufacturer selling .22 firearms, the lack of ammo would concern me greatly.

Why Can't I Find .22 Ammo?!

[This is why...]

You hear all kind of numbers about how many firearms owners are in the USA, but you hear 70-80 million quite often. So for the sake of us not arguing that number – let’s cut it to 35 million. Do you know a gun owner that does not own at least one firearm chambered in .22 LR? Do you know any that are not looking for .22 LR ammo or would at least buy some if they saw it for normal prices? How many would they buy when they found it? A lot – right? But again, just to keep the argument on the low end, let’s say they would all be satisfied with just a single 500 pack. 35 million multiplied by 500 .22 LR rounds for them all – is 17.5 BILLION rounds. Let that sink in. Even at 25 million rounds being made PER DAY – that is 1.92 years’ worth of production.

Cabelas now has 500 rd. packs of remington thunderbolts in stock for $25.99 (5 cents a round). Between this and the earlier one posted - a person could have bought 1000 rds. of .22 today. And before anyone says shipping is a killer - there is free ship to the store and also free shipping over $49 (so add a couple boxes of another caliber ammo to get the free shipping).

They've been banging the same drum for about a year now, basically that hoarders are responsible.

But, I'd think that the hoarders' cellars would be full to the brim by now!

Two different clerks at a regional discount store (Rural King) have told me that, in order to have something on the shelves for their shoppers, are buying their .22LR ammo from a "middleman". They are also selling it at over $50/brick (various quantities 500-555). :barf:
Those "middlemen" are probably what Moxie is calling "hoarders". It would be more correct to call them "flippers".
:cuss: :banghead:

As far as I am concerned, it's easing up but perhaps the amount of ease is varying geographically. Here in central Arkansas, I might have gone six months or so at a time and not see it on the shelves. In the last week though, I have bought bulk quality 22 at seven different retailers with a price anywhere from 4-5¢ to 10¢ per round. Also the local scalper prices are falling.

This is going to o on for a long time. The mentality right now is buy every round on the shelf. People who were content to keep a couple of packs/bricks on hand now want 20 so they don't get caught short again. That alone will prolong things by a couple years.

At 6:15pm EST, I ordered from Midway USA (filtered 22 ammo for in stock items):

500 rounds CCI Standard Velocity $39.99
325 rounds Federal AutoMatch $16.29
500 rounds CCI Blazer $20.99

Shipping was $12.19, so the delivered total was $89.46.

Of course, limit was 1 box of each item.

Wally World near me had Federal bulk 550 rounders for $23. :what:
I only picked up one. Didn't want to be greedy.

Found some federal auto match (335 rds) for $30. Did not succumb to the price gouging

Two weeks ago I got 325 rounds Federal Target Champion for $18 + $7 shipping for $.08 a round. Only allow one and only had it at that time. I haven't been able to get it since. Just checked Midway - out of stock or coming soon for .22 lr.

SGammo had sent an email showing 100 rd packages of Winchester super-x in stock for $9.95, limit of 10. So I clicked on it to see how many they had and it showed 1157 in stock (sgammo shows how much of an item is in stock), within 5 minutes it was all sold out (115,700 rounds). I'm not sure how many more 100 rd. boxes were in stock before I clicked on the link, but thought it was interesting to keep refreshing the page and seeing the inventory steadily dropping.

I love sgammo for showing how much is in stock. It can be eye opening. At other times it can temper your anxiety and give you more time to think about it and look up whatever just came in stock when there is a ton/it is going more slowly.

Over the week end I got some SK Standard Plus (match grade) from Graf for $120/1,000. Tuesday I got a 535 of Federal bulk at Gander Mountain for $27

I just got the Midway flyer today. Prices are reasonable and you should be able to get plenty

Graf eh? I just ordered 1k CCI Standard Velocity and 500 SK Rifle Match (one step up from the SK Standard Plus) from them yesterday.

Also yesterday 1k of what I received was SK Standard Plus from Midway.

Good stuff. :)

(for the unaware, SK Standard Plus is Wolf Match Target and SK Rifle Match is Wolf Match Extra, exactly the same just a different label/box)

Got my sale ad today from Midway and saw the CCI mini-mags advertised. Went on-line and found they were OUT OF STOCK of course. Emailed Midway and asked if they ever had any in stock since my back ordered CASE from January 2014 hasn't been filled yet. We'll see what they say. From other postings it looks like they had 'some' in stock. :cuss:

I bought a brick of that during the beginning of the current panic for $65 at the LGS. He had two more bricks but I wanted to leave some for other guys. Mebbe should have taken it all

That is the stuff that is super accurate in my CZ
