.41 Mag Association

I got my first 41 mag about 3 months ago, a 657- 7inch. So far have shot 436 rounds down range , loaded with 8.2 unique and 215 lead to factory jacketed.
Love it, now if I could afford a Marlin lever.

Been reloading since I was in 10th grade and in all that time I never had any thing go wrong - except for one incident with my .41 Mag. I was showing a friend how to load with my Lee loader and everything was going great. All of the sudden we were both shocked by a loud bang. Looking at each other we realized that when he went to seat the primer in a case with the Lee tool, it must have been caught not fully in the recess. We were in the basement of a dormitory on the UT Austin campus (back when no one really cared - I'm sure we would be looking at a SWAT team if that were to happen today). The bare tile walls did do a great job of amplifying the sound. Luckily no injuries, but I have thought of that with every shell I have primed over the last 30 years.

They're pretty proud of the Marlin 41s. One sold on GB for almost $1700.00 on Sunday 8-31.

Hokey Smokes! I have a Marlin 1894S .41 Mag. I bought new in 1988. If I remember correctly, I paid about $225.00 for it. It goes great with my S&W 57 .41 Mag. I bought new in 1980. I enjoy that combo out in the mountains and forests.

So, is a s&w 657 no dash with a 4" barrel rare? Haven't seen one anywhere else on gunbroker.

The 4" barrel 657 was only produced for two years, 1986-1987. I have not seen any production numbers and like you said you never see one for sale except for an occasional one on Gunbroker.

I'm thinking the 4 inch 657 might even be rarer and harder to find than the so called "Rare", "Hard to Find!" 3 inch 657, which there always seems to be a half dozen or so listed for sale at any one time on Gunbroker.

The 3" is the gun that was on my hip when backpacking in black bear country for many years. Luckily, I never had to use it on a bruin.

I'm in!! I have owned my. Ruger Single Six in .41 mag for 35 years...love it!! It is crazy accurate as well!

41 in a single six? Sure it's not a Blackhawk?

I'm confused as well as I thought that the largest calibre for the Single Six was the .32 H&R mag?

I'm in! I've always liked the .41 magnums. I have two right now. One Bisley Blackhawk with a 7 1/2" barrel and a fluted cylinder. The other is a standard Blackhawk with a 4 5/8" barrel. I did replace the black aluminum grip frame with a stainless one, and I really like the extra heft. For some reason, I'm more accurate with the shorter barrel. Probably my old eyes.

Wow 336A tells us this year is the 50th anniversary of the .41 Mag.

Since this is a thread about the .41 Mag & not the S&W .41 mag. exclusively, I'm wondering if anyone has experience with the Taurus Tracker in .41? They are a 5 shot revolver & very portable.
I have shot a Tracker in .44 mag & it was reasonably accurate & controlable with factory 240gr loads.

Yeah, I've got the 4" Tracker in 41 Mag. Mine is as accurate as I am.

I have a circa 2012 Taurus® TRACKER™ Mdl 425SS4 and can attest that it is an AWESOME GUN!

Who did, and what is, the matte finish?

Taurus Tracker

2 1/2" Tracker 415 without ports.
Single action trigger pull averages 4lb 13oz and double action is 11lb 3oz.
215gr SWC at ~1000fps hits a little high and left of POA.





After shooting the non-ported 415, the ported 3" barrel 425 feels like shooting a .38 Special.
Single action trigger pull on this one has a little creep and is right at 4lbs. Double action pull is inconsistent ranging from 10lb 11oz to over the 12lb limit of my Lyman digital scale.





The porting works well on the super light 4" 425 Titanium too keeping muzzle rise to a minimum.
Trigger pull on this revolver only varied a few ounces at 3lb 9oz SA and 10lb 3oz DA.

SA trigger pull on this Raging Bull is a crisp 3lb 5oz.
Despite a breakfast of 4 cups of Keurig brewed extra bold French roast coffee and a Nutty Bar most of the shots were breaking as I buzzed by the bullseye.
