tell me about the 25 auto cartridge?

I wouldn't be so quick to say that, modern .25 ACP performance closely matches modern .22 LR performance from these very short barrels. Also, the .25 ACP is inherently more reliable due to it's centerfire design. It also can feed somewhat better do to it's semi-rimless nature.
 
Maybe not...his last activity here was today so maybe he's just reading along? Sometimes I read here for hours and never post or amplify/revisit threads depending on "how they go". :)

Well he did create a thread where he was asking the kind of questions someone with little knowledge of the topic would ask and not have much to knowledge to contribute. He probably never imagined he would receive a deluge of answers to questions he could never have conceived. The poor guy is probably feeling overwhelmed with the volume information, and baffled by the BS and blinded by the brilliance of some of our answers.;)
 
I wonder if Unique ever did one like their 22 pistol/ rifle combo. Could have had the rifle part for near nothing once, but was afraid of it.

I saw a .25 auto for sale today. Never seen one like that before. Thought I could remember the name but have already forgotten what it was. Dang. :banghead:

I think it started with an F. Black plastic grips and bright like aluminum or stainless...wasn't nickel. I guess I'll go back tomorrow and actually check it out unless the place is crowded with folks again.
 
Nope...not a Taurus. Googled some pics this morning and I think I was wrong about the "T".

After looking at the googled pictures I'm thinking it was a Korriphilia aka Budischowski TP-70.. Probably wrong on that also. :scrutiny:
 
I was just on Gun Broker and ran across a .25 ACP I was not aware of.

Anyone have any experience with or know the history of the Filecci DA only .25 ACP appearently manufactured in "Miami Florida USA"? Stainless steel. too.

Yes it does look good. I can't find any info on these pistols. LGS has it on consignment with no box or papers...one magazine $250.

I'm going to look at it this afternoon. I'm figuring it will probably have a trigger pull like my NAA Guardian .32....BAD.

Parts more scarce than hen's teeth I imagine.

no go on the Filecci .25

I just got back from checking out the Filecci .25. Passed on it and left it be.

The Filecci was heavy and felt exactly like my NAA Guardian...heavy in weight and way heavy in trigger pull. The lever on the left side is a safety...double action only pistol.

Went several miles to another gunstore and looked at two consignment guns there. 1st was a Beretta Minx .22 short for $160 OTD. 2nd was a Astra Constable .32 for $180 OTD. Passed on them as well.

22 short is over looked . But in the little mouse guns the short is pretty good round. The 22 LR is still burning powder as the round leaves barrel. Sort of like a 357 in a snub. Were the 22 short is more in line with length of barrel . Result is short is really pretty close to LR .

I have a Astra 22 short They made for Colt also for a time) Its a fun pistol and I have carried sometimes .

Except that the .22 Short is loaded with a 29 grain bullet, while the standard LR is 40 grains. Penetration goes to the standard LR. If you use the Hyper Velocity LR with 32 grain bullets, it pretty well smokes the Short in a pistol barrel six ways to Sunday.

The .22 Short is about ideal for squirrels and rats, but little more.

It was beat but not all the way to death. Some small pitting here and there and some finish wear. One place on right side of slide near muzzle looked like it had been filed down for some unknown reason. Bright and shiny and unlike the flip side.

This pic is of my .22 LR Beretta...similar slide. Area I'm talking about on the .22 short gun is right where the slide starts its obvious tapered edge toward the front. It had been filed or ground down right in front of the word "USE" all the way to the end of slide.

Curse poverty!

I saw three of the little stainless Baurs today at a teeny tiny local show each on a separate table to day (but none in the little blue velvet lined jewelry box) but to top it off I saw a little .25 Galesi marked for $139 on the table of a guy that will talk! Don't know why but the Galesi pistols always sort of spoke to me IIRC there were three frame sizes and other than size they were pretty much all alike. Speaking to the wife of the guy with the Galesi she commented that in the last few years they sell far more .25 ACPs to men for their own use than women. I thought it interesting for what is considered by so many as a Girlie Gun.

I did like the feel of the little Italian today, I can envision it having ridden miles in a modified eye glasses sleeve /case in someone's pocket...... talk about pocket protectors......

Oh yeah I also saw an FIE in plain jane blue but there were folks talking over the merits of modifying SKS in front of the table so I never even got to check the price.

That Filecci looks a lot sexier than that ugly Taurus PLY. What do they want for a PLY?
