Range report:
my indoor range is closed for the summer, so I used the outdoor. As usual, some yahoos shot up the target boards, so I had to improvise. Range was approximately 60 feet, offhand, standing position.
Some initial adjustment was necessary to get my onto paper as expected. I worked the gun the night before as suggested in another forum. I field stripped it, oiled with the wesson lube, and reassambled then worked the slide about 300 times. then cleaned and relubed.
Ammo was el-cheapo Remmington bulk pack.
I fired 50 rounds then field stripped and relubed, and fired another 50 rounds
After 100 rounds performance was flawless. no failures to fire, feed, or extract. the extraction was a bit scattered initially, but after a few rounds generally settled in a general area about 6 feet to my 5 oclock position.
accuracy (for me) was nothing short of amazing, I had several targets with all 10 in the black, and a few with almost all touching holes. On average I was able to hold a 2" group. With a rest I am 100% positive I could have shot a 1" group. I've never had a gun (noew or otherwise) shoot factory hardball so well. Trigger at the onset was about 4.75# but extremely clean. no drag, no creep. just apply pressure and click it went. Very concistent feel to it. There is of course some takeup and overtravel, but I never adjsuted the overtravel stop either.
On the whole I cannot point out anything negative. I am not a fan of the grips that arrived with it, but they are as secure in the hand as anything. looks aside, function is perfect.
Function wise the pistol performed every bit as well as I was hoping. Neither supplied mag gave me any trouble, nor did my ruger mags, or the metalforms I brought with me. I tested a total of 6 mags with the gun. The rib on the top of the slide does it's job perfectly, I shot in full daylight with no clouds and high noon sun. painfully bright out. no glare at all. The sights have a clear sight picture and maintaining a 6 o'clock hold was super easy.
