There are multiple "Vetterlis" out there which is very confusing but below explains the differences. I have the identical rifle made 144 years ago and I have resurrected her and I am shooting it. I have made a clamp on front sight to allow me to shoot POA/POI at 100 yards with 257 gr. cast bullets on top of 17.5 grains of 2400 so if needed I could hunt with it.
Dies for your rifle (middle above) I just learned are still made by CH in Ohio.($152.00) Two years ago when I got her and decided to resurrect her I purchased the Lee made Vetterli dies (about $35.00) and you can actually load yours with them.
This is the front sight conversion I made for mine:
Note the front sight is visibly right of bore center line.
Made prototype block from 1" X 1" aluminum and figured out I needed steel so had to buy a 20 ft stick of 3/4" X 1" hot rolled steel bar.
The big hole will need to be about .659.
Sight I used was a M14 front sight and had to reduce the height of the front sight about 2/3rds lower than produced but it is adjustable for windage where there is no windage adjustment on the rifle without altering it and ruining its value.
