    Selected knives for hunting

The knives are great, especially the ones you made Bldsmith :what::what: Good to see that they get used and are not just for display

    Selected knives for hunting

I didn't know it was possible to order a custom 110 and the day I did is the day I ordered the knife you see in the picture! I can tell you there is a noticeable difference when compared to the off the shelf knives.

    Selected knives for hunting

So I finally completed my knife set that I'm bringing with me deer hunting. These knives are all razor sharp and even though I could probably make do without the 110, its just an excuse to get one! From top: For getting the meat off the bone - Victorinox 6 inch curved flexible boning knife...

    The Hunting Rifle Picture Thread

Love the pics! Mine’s a Remington 700 CDL Stainless in 30-06, topped off with a Nikon 3-9 x 50. I had the stock epoxy bedded with aluminum pillars, free floated the barrel and adjusted the factory trigger. I do not hand load, for now, so I shoot 165 gr Hornady Superformance SSTs. The group below...

Are new Gold Cups worth it?

They are very much worth it! I actually have the stainless pictured above, with the 100 in the gold emblem since I bought it 2011. If you see one in person, it will be hard to walk away from it!! It is great and has performed flawlessly. It has not jammed on me with the various types of ammo I...

    NY Deer Hunting Guide

Thanks all, I'm from NY so I know the deer here get bigger than they do in some other states! I used to go hunting with a buddy who had a land lease a while back but he doesn't go anymore so I was hoping someone new of a guide. Public land was my backup plan haha

    NY Deer Hunting Guide

Does anyone know/heard of a guide for white tailed deer in NY that they would recommend for the 2012 Rifle deer season? I’ve looked around and found a few but I would like to hear about first hand experiences with them. I'm not interested in high fence hunting, nothing wrong with it but it’s not...

    ...Just One Caliber

357 MAGNUM gets another vote! It has the best balance of power and controllability!!

Rifled choke tubes not so bad!

I recently bought a Benelli SBE II with a 26 inch barrel primarily for birds. So far it shoots everything I put it in with no hiccups. I started shooting rifled slugs, Federal and Remington, out of it at the range and the groups were unimpressive. I’m sure with appropriate sights I could have...

    Waning interest in magnums

Magnums are alive and well Everyone has their opinions but I enjoy shooting my 357 magnum (hence the name). I shoot 38s once in a while but my S&W 686 Plus with a 5 inch barrel handles the 357 recoil pretty well. I am in my upper 20s now and this was my first and is my favorite handgun. I also...

    S & w 686

The 686 is a great firearm. I have a 7 shot with a 5 inch barrel and there is no way I will part with it! It's very accurate, durable and lets you shoot 38 specials for practice. I prefer 357's when hunting or for the house.

    S&W 686 or Ruger GP100

S&W 686 Plus Pro Series. It holds 7 shots and has a 5inch barrel. It shoots great and has great sight! I'm sure the Ruger is nice too but I prefer S&W. http://www.smith-wesson.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product4_750001_750051_766340_-1_757767_757751_757751_ProductDisplayErrorView_Y

    Remington 700 vs Browning X-Bolt

Go with the Remy I have a 700 CDL SF with fluted barrel in 30-06! It looks and shoots great! If you are not looking for a large caliber rifle, then you should check out the 700 SPS Varmint. It has a great heavy barrel, a nice looking stock, is available in calibers up to .308 and it’s listed...
