no i wasnt th gun was pointed safly away and the choke tube flew out with the pellets and thanks to remingtons safty features the barrel peeled instead of exploaded

ive heard of that before tried it and it worked to some extent with just a coke bottle sounded like someone smacking it realy loud never put a rag in it tho.....ive also heard of tapeing a potatoe to the end of a .22 but never tryed it

my dads 870 shoots all remington slugs just like your sons mossberg try lightfeilds maybe? they make some punishing slugs also winchester or K.O. slugs might not be to bad. my advice tho is just to shop around pick up a few diffrent types and just have him shoot to see whats goin on with it

i have a rem 870 20ga i put a knoxx spec opss stock onit with a pistole rip and i use it allll the time for water fowl.Your right this gun rusts very easily but ive always been able to just wipe it off with a rag and some rem oil
