    IMR Enduron Powders

I have used IMR powders since 1982 and have just started seeing info on the new Enduron powders. I am curious on how the new powders fit in / compare to the existing line up. For example, I use 4350 for 30-06, 4064 for .308. The IMR site says 4166 is great for .308 among other. It says 4451...

Newcomer with general questions .270 WIN

,270 Win Hey Big Sloppy, I thought I would take a stab at your questions. I load .270 and have found that the 130gr. AccuBond with H4831Sc is a good combo. As for dies, I prefer Redding or Hornady. You can get a 3 die set that has a neck sizer and full length resizer. You can get more...

    7mm-08 loads for a 20" barrel and a 1 in 9.5 twist

I load for a buddy of mine who is a farmer and hunts NC whitetails at distances up to 300 yards. His truck gun and deer gun is a 20" barreled Ruger. The load that has worked well for this rifle is 39.5g of RL-15 and a 140gr Nosler Accubond which has a BC of .485 and SD of .248. This is...

    Nickle vs Brass cases

I have only used nickel in .22-250 loading once finred winchester factory loads and had several of the case necks split. I have never had regular brass winchester split. The nickel just seems to be more brittle.

    Browning X Bolt 308

RH X Bolt for Leftys Hey CDMC, I have a Browning X-Bolt in .308 (RH) and I love it. I am not an avid hunter but have put 40 or so shots through it either standing or prone. With the synthetic stock it seems to give your right hand something to grip into with some give, as I just rotate...

    270 winchester reloading needs

Cajun48, I use both Imperial sizing die wax and Imperial dry neck lube. The wax is great for providing lubrication for the die and the outside of the case, but I like to start off by dipping the case into the dry neck lube. That keeps the neck from being too gooey or conversely not lubed...

Reloading Die Storage & Rust Prevention

How do you guys store your dies? When I pulled out my .41 Mag dies that had been stored for 15 years I was treated to the sight of rust that looks like has ruined the dies. Same thing on some non carbide .30-30 dies from cira 1982. I guess that it was the conditions of the crawl space...

    .30-378 Weatherby Dies

HI Clancy, Try Midway USA, they have a number of dies in stock including RCBS and my favorite, Redding. Here is a link to the Redding 2-Die Set, but they also have the 3-Die Set with the neck sizer too. http://www.midwayusa.com/viewProduct/default.aspx?productNumber=182494 What kind of...

.338 win mag VS .300 win mag

Haly, Something else to consider in favor of the .300WM is that you can shoot 125 grain bullets (3250fps) all the way up to 220 grain for large game like bear. The .338 has a narrower seleciton running from 180 grain up to 250 grains. I like being able to have the option of a...

    Mauser Scout Mount

Hi Johnny V, I have a Mauser style Charles Daley in .243 Win that took my local shop some time to figure out the rings as the rear base and ring need to provide more height than the front. Turns out Weaver makes some 1" rings, part # 49143 that were perfect to mount my Nikon 4.5-14X BDC...

high capcity battle style deer rifle

Hey TIMC, I like the way that scope looks on your AR-10. What kind is it? What kind of rings are you using? How is your eye relief? I am looking for a scope for my LR-308 that will work from 100 to 600 yards and would appreciate your feedback on how you deciding on your combo.

    Another reloading manual

I would suggest the next manual on your wish list be the Lyman 49th. I always like to compare their loads, which usually have 10 powders or os, with what the bullet manufacturer's manual shows. The Lyman manual is helpful because it shows the pressures they recorded with each powder and...
