ArmiSport 1853 Enfield musket bullet size

If you wish, you can get a pretty good idea of the groove depth by using calipers to measure (at the muzzle) from a land to the outside of the barrel. Note the dimension. Then measure from an adjacent groove to the outside of the barrel and note that dimension also. Subtracting it from the...

    Kibler range report

:D Did you find the 4-speed, 5-speed, or 6-speed shifter knobs? Would you use a 4-speed knob on the rod for a flint lock and save the more modern 5- and 6-speed knobs for (more modern) percussion rifles? How about one of those old Hurst shifter handles (aluminum, I think) with the finger...

    Kibler range report

Say Mr. hawg, just a thought about that ungrateful ramrod that hid out from you and spent the night in the rain. After you have taught it the error of its ways, how about giving it a very heavy coat of beeswax and applying gentle heat to the rod with a hairdryer (or some such) to help the wax...

#1 Rolling Block in .32-20 WCF

That is one BEAUTIFUL-looking rifle! Question: is extraction and ejection automatic when the breechblock is lowered? My (rimfire) Merrimack Arms Ballard has an extractor knob on the bottom of the forearm, immediately in front of the receiver. My hat is off to you, hitting targets at 500 yards...

#1 Rolling Block in .32-20 WCF

Will be interesting to see what it will do at 50 and 100 yards off the bench. I know 100 yards might be a long stretch for a .32-20.

    Rolling Block Cadet rifle

Thank you for your response. I had forgotten that a number of companies made Ballard rifles. My Ballard was made by the Merrimack Arms & Manufacturing Co., Newburyport, Mass. It appears to be chambered for .44 Henry rimfire, which round I have in my collection. Seems a perfect fit in the...

    Rolling Block Cadet rifle

Regarding your Ballard rifles might you have a rimfire variant that has a percussion nipple in the breech block, right below the slot for the firing pin? You have a beautiful collection of rifles!

I am happy for your success. Unfortunately, I am not allowed to work with a file on anything of any value whatsoever. :D

Hoo boy! What do you want to do, give all them high-priced corporate lawyer-boys and girls the vapors? 🤣 I think it's a great idea myself.

Good-looking work in progress. A silver butt cap will really spruce it up. Glad you were able to remove the unnecessary billboard advertisements and warnings. Too bad they aren't all on the bottom flat, just ahead of the breech plug.
