Yeah it's another one of my favorite .22 rimfires that I like to shoot a heck of a lot. Very few firearms enthusiasts even know what a Stevens 44 1/2 is! Mine is a standard 044 1/2 English model. (slightly lighter weight version) with the stag head but plate. It's in excellent cond. About 75%...

Zeke that's fantastic shooting! Now your next step is to do like me. When I buy my Blazer supply, I get cases of them. My supplier has to bring them out of the warehouse on a pallet jack. I've put many many thousands of rounds through my old Mountie with no malfunctions whatsoever. Make sure...

    The Marlin 39 Club

Yeah Zeke, I've found the Bazers to be the best all purpose hunting and target ammo in all my rifles. Very tight groups with few fliers, and never any malfunctions of any kind. The only exception is for my 1909 Stevens 044 1/2 English model falling block rifle I use CCI Standard velocity for...

Yes I drilled and tapped the two mounting holes. One thing I want to note to you guys about tang sights on the 39. When you take the gun apart for cleaning, you separate the front and rear sights. When I first tried tang sights on mine it wasn't shooting the tight groups I wanted. It turned out...

I use the standard Marbles tang sights. I have read some feedback complaints about the improved ones saying they are too flimsy, and other problems. The only difference is on the improved version, you can remove the whole upright post and change to a taller one for extra long range. I think the...

They only come in long rifle 40gr round nose lubricated lead. Good old fashioned .22 ammo. It works well on small game. In all of my rifles, it's been 100% reliable, and very accurate. Much like a high end match grade ammo, but at the cost of regular .22 high velocity ammo. -Scott.

I've shot CB in mine and they functioned fine, and are good for close range work, but pretty inaccurate at 25yds. Since you mentioned close range, CBs should be fine. I can't place an accurate shot with them at 50-75 ft. They fly pretty wild at that range. If you want to shoot any longer...

I I agree with Mo. Some may think I paid too much for this one. But I've never thought so. Anyways, nobody could ever buy it from me for any amount of money. -Scott. P.S. I put about 6000 rounds through it in the last year. I took this picture of it yesterday. I don't have it just to own it...

wrench, I agree with dewalt2. Stick with your original idea and get the Marbles tang sight. To me, they are much better, and definately more appropriate on a traditional lever gun. that's what I use on all my lever guns. Scott.

dewalt-2, Very nice work. Thanks for the great pictures and story. Thinking back on those good ol' days, me and my classmates carried our guns into school, and worked on them in High school shop class. Nobody ever thought anything of it. I even sold a 94 Winchester in school to one of my shop...
