saving up for a 12g flintlock fowler

I actually just bought a 24 gauge fowler from Sitting Fox...I'm very happy with it! Mine was one of the ready built fowlers, so there was no delay. I like it so much that I plan to order a .58 caliber Jaeger sometime in the semi-near future.

    Forgotten Weapons Video about Colt

Ian is one of, it not THE, best firearms expert out there. He does great work putting out free content to folks on the history and engineering behind a wide variety of firearms.

    10mm pistol?

My Sig P220 is one of my favorite pistols. Very heavy but a lot of fun to shoot.

    Mannlicher Schoenauer ID

I appreciate all the comments! I have determined the rifle has indeed been rechambered for 7mm Mauser and shoots beautifully. I've found some vintage scope rings that with a little bit of work will work with the existing mounts (for a period-correct zero-holding quick detach). I'll be sure to...

    Mannlicher Schoenauer ID

Thank you for the input! What are the distinguishing features of the 1910 vs the 1903, etc?

    Mannlicher Schoenauer ID

You're right to be suspicious, it certainly chambers but it's not buttery smooth...the 6.5x57 is based on the 7mm Mauser and the cartridges I have are a relatively short bullet... Thank you for the recommendations! I actually had just ordered some, so we'll see if that works out better...

    Mannlicher Schoenauer ID

I did ask, but I guess you didn't read that part. Thank you for the recommendation, I'll check that out!

The serial is only 4 digits long, so XXXX (less than 6000). Apologies for the poor picture, here are some with a clearer resolution.

    Mannlicher Schoenauer ID

I recently acquired what I believe to be a Mannlicher Schoenauer but I'm trying to figure out how old it might be and if anyone had any ideas about what scope rings might work with the mounts. Anyone have any guesses? Given that it seems to have some of the hallmarks of an earlier M-S but has...

Best way to sell an M2 machine gun barrel?

Thank you to everyone for those suggestions. I've posted to those forums. It appears to be an M3 aircraft barrel and I'll attach an image below for confirmation. Does $350 seem a reasonable price (I've seen some on gunbroker for $500 but that seems far too high)?

Best way to sell an M2 machine gun barrel?

I don't have much experience with the M2 machine gun but we recently found an M2 .50 cal machine gun barrel in grandpa's barn (he thought it was a truck axle and was about to scrap it). I'm trying to figure out what might be the best way to go about selling it (I doubt I'll ever be able to...

school me on lever gun calibers

Agreed. If I were going on safari tomorrow, the 405 Win would lose out to my 375 H&H, but my main point was to demonstrate that lever guns do come in some very serious calibers that have been used to good effect in the past. Certainly, I would have confidence in my 1895 anywhere in North...

school me on lever gun calibers

And there's a few still in some of the older "Africa" cartridges. I have a Winchester 1895 in 405 Winchester, which is a rifle and cartridge pairing Theodore Roosevelt took with him on safari. It certainly puts a world of hurt on anything on the receiving end.

    Pre Model 10 S&W M&P .38 Special question

I have a 1st change hand ejector almost identical to the OP's. I would absolutely NOT recommend firing +P in the revolver. I think the OP will find that the revolver will be very functional with plain old 38 Special. I also have a 4th change and both are scary accurate with 158 gr LRN 38...

would you buy a rifle made by a closed down company?

Many of the guns in my collection are >100 years old at this point and the overwhelming majority do not have any sort of warranty available. A number of them were built in now non-existent countries, let alone soon to be closed manufacturers. I think you'll well enjoy the H&R purchases and...
