    Experience with nodakspud.com A1 lowers?

Was poking around for parts to do a retro AR-15 build (A1) style and found these lowers http://www.nodakspud.com/AR%20Lowers.htm Looks like you could use these to make just about any style of early AR-15/M16 you could want. I did a search and a couple others have mentioned them, but does...

    Lead Poisoning --Valuable Health Information

No success there. They sell Magtech primers, but not the Cleanrange variety, at least according to the website. Also checked in with their customer service department, who said they don't carry them and have no plans to at present.

    Lead Poisoning --Valuable Health Information

Thanks for the interesting info on non-toxic primers. I'd been looking for some just to try out in reloading. Supposedly Magtech and PMC both manufacture and sell them, but I haven't been able to find any ANYWHERE, online or in stores. The problems with them you mention are interesting. I...

    4 or 6 inch barrel

My personal experience between 4 and 6 inch revolvers (Ruger, but I'm sure S&W would be similar)... Had a 6 inch full underlug GP-100. Great revolver, absorbed recoil well, very controllable. However, the weight out to the end always made it feel a little bit unbalanced to me. Not...

Why hunt down a buy a Medusa if I can make one?

Found what I was thinking of... unfortunately, I had the story a little bit garbled. Here are the details as written on http://airbornecombatengineer.typepad.com/airborne_combat_engineer/2007/05/medusa_revolver.html. Gary Reeder's version Gary Reeder picked up the rights, the tooling...

Why hunt down a buy a Medusa if I can make one?

I don't know why company shut down. When poking around the dim recesses of the 'net a month or two ago, I remember stumbling across a site for some company, want to say it was a custom gun building/parts supplier type deal, that was now employing one of the fellows who founded Phillips &...

    glock extended mag release

JBP55, do you just use a Dremel and/or file to do that? I find that the square shape of most Glock mag releases can be a bit uncomfortable, especially after extended practice sessions. I've considered doing something similar but never actually tried it.

    Taurus 617 size/concealability?

I've been curious for a while now how small a Taurus 617 is... it's a 7 shot .357 magnum snub, but Taurus classifies it as a "compact" frame, which I suppose must be in between the small frame 5 shots and the medium frames like the 65 and 66. I've never seen one in person, but how does it...

    PPC in VA/MD?

I've been looking to check out a PPC match in the northern Virginia/southern Maryland area to see if it's something I'd be interested in trying. Haven't been able to dig up much info on local matches or info on getting started... both website address I've found for the Virginia Police...

Who will modify Ruger SA indexing?

Realize this is just a "where did I see it" question, but I'm looking for a custom gunsmith whose services include modifying the indexing on Ruger SA revolvers so that the chambers align with the loading gate as the cylinder "clicks". I know as I was perusing custom work websites I saw someone...

    Lead Poisoning --Valuable Health Information

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I had thought that because most FMJs have an exposed lead base, they don't do much to solve the lead vaporization problem, as compared to a plated or total metal jacket bullet which covers the whole projectile.

    Moonclips for Security Six

Does anyone know of a gunsmith who will do machining on a Security Six for moonclips? I checked around a bit, and all the Ruger smiths I found list GP-100, SP-101, Redhawk, etc., but no S6. I have a couple smiths in mind that I'll contact directly to ask, but I thought I'd post the question...

Need help with .38 148 gr HBWC load!

Glad I found this thread, even if it is a year old, because I was wondering the same thing about how to treat plated wadcutters. My Lee manual echoes what Berry's and members here have said, in that plated bullets should not be treated like their lead counterparts. Unfortunately, the manual...

    Lead Poisoning --Valuable Health Information

This is a great thread, with lots of helpful info! I started wondering about this because even though I shoot infrequently (due to schedule), I pretty much have to use an indoor range because all the outdoor ones are much farther away [grumble]. That said, I have a couple questions: 1) Does...
