how accurate are .22LR at farther distance

Playing in the wind I bought a Marlin 881 (tube-fed, bolt gun, no longer in production) for my son. Paid $175.00 It is more accurate than my match barrel on my Contender carbine. The Marlin model 60's I have shot over the years were more accurate than the factory barreled 10/22's. That...

High velocity 125g .357 mag loads for deer?

In my experience the 125's out of my Marlin carbine waste way too much meat. I'm in the 158/180gr fan club for the .357 in a carbine. Ed

Remington Subsonic .22 LR Hp opens up well

Nathan, Thanks for the pics! I haven't shot any of the Remington subsonics yet but am very familiar with the CCI version. CCI's are VERY accurate past 50 yds in my Contender Carbine with the match chamber. I have regularly hit golf balls at 50 yds with them and they seem to be subsonic...

Not again.......! Feral Hog Control in East Texas

Thank you Flint, I too, have just read this thread from start to finish (so far:)). I am a transplant to East Texas and have had hogs on my place in the past, but they have been gone now for two years. I have learned more about hogs tonight than I ever knew. I have throughly enjoyed...

    Interesting comment from Sherrif's deputy

Back in the mid 80's we had a fellow officer killed with a .22lr. Round went into lower abdomen under his vest area, bounced around so much that even after five hours of surgery the Docs couldn't stop the bleeding and he died on the table. I've seen suicides where the person shot themselves in...

    45LC vs 44mag

With bullet choices from 185gr .45ACP wadcutters up to 325gr Barnes Buster (my favorite .45LC load for bear country) I think the .45LC is more versatile. I carried a .44mag for years until I learned what a good, stout .45LC could do. You can't go wrong with either one. Ain't it great to...

    looking for a accurate rimfire

While you're out looking, see if you can find a Marlin 881. Tube fed, bolt action, no longer in production, but both of them I have owned have been very accurate. The Marlin 25N is another good one. You won't regret either one. Just my $0.02 Ed

    rra varmint

I have the 20" RRA Varmint Special. It is the most accurate of the three .223's I own. It has the 1:8 twist and has shot everything from 45gr to 62gr great. I haven't tried anything heavier yet. Take a look at the Predator Pursuit if you want a lighter rifle. Same quality, thinner match...

    Convicted felons owning guns

There IS a process in place whereby convicted felons can regain their Contitutional Rights. It applies to all 50 states. All they have to do is go back to the original court and petition for the re-instatement of their rights. They have to have waited ten years from completion of their...
