I noticed that too and that just seems weird to me. Why change a bullet from flat-based to boat-tailed and keep the old item #? Why not offer it as a new item?
Maybe they'll shoot better in my .223 as a boat-tail. My Ruger really liked the 55g Sierra BTHP GameKing and the 53g Hornady V-Max but...
I was given the tip of using the ISO HEET (red bottle) as it's 99% Isopropyl Alcohol and it's only $1.97 for a 12 ounce bottle (Walmart). Amazon had Now Foods brand liquid Lanolin for $6.99 at the time (now it's $9.97).
So I got 26 ounces of case lube for $7.61 (inc. tax) vs. 8 ounces of Dillon...
Seems you've already been given enough good advice, but add my $0.02...
ISO Heet is 99% Isopropyl Alcohol and 1% "additive". It's $1.97 per bottle at Walmart for 12 ounces. I used a 32oz spray bottle and so mixed two bottles of ISO Heet with ~2 ounces of liquid lanolin for a 12:1 mixture. Seems...
viking,
I like the 129g Hornady Interlock in my 6.5x55 for deer sized game. It's a great deer bullet and works perfectly at the speeds a Swede shoots them. As for match or varmint bullets, I don't have a recommendation there.
Good luck.
I came across a "hunting show" on TV a dozen years back. I tuned in and watched for as long as I could stand it. It had all the things that make a hunting show terrible; loud guitar music, corn feeder deer, whispering to each other after the deer was shot (what's the point? You don't think the...
bds,
You just cost me ~$45. I was wanting to pick up 500 of their 9mm 115g FMJ and that 10% off coupon put me over the edge. I hope my wife doesn't mind me buying myself a Fathers Day gift...:)
I honestly don't know what the waste water will contain or if it will have any negative consequences on the local water supply (one reason why the word "toxic" is in quotes). :) I do believe that tumbler waste water is more likely to have a negative impact on the water table/local water supply...
I've been contemplating moving to wet tumbling with stainless steel pins and a rotary tumbler. One thing that I've often wondered about is what to do with the resulting waste water. Do you just dump it down the drain? I've wondered how "toxic" the resulting waste water would be and how much...
High B.C. "long range" bullets are what sell these days so RN bullets are getting produced less and less often. I imagine the situation will only get worse over time. The easiest solution would be to move them to a commonly available 150g spitzer. It would save a lot of headaches down the road...
Flintknapper,
Is that the condition you found the bones in or did you clean it up some? If that's exactly how you found it that is indeed quite impressive!
Yeah, the Hornady 55g SP is the same price as the 55g FMJ and by all accounts is more accurate. I bought the 55g SP in bulk for about 9 1/2 cents per round ($23.74/250 at Midsouth Shooters Supply).
It's still not the most accurate bullet in my rifle, but it's plenty good enough for casual...
