    12 or 20 in a single shot?

I have a 16 gauge H & R Topper 188 that I have fitted with a Limb Saver slip on recoil pad. The recoil is not too bad for one box of shells, but I would not want to shoot a whole lot more than that. I, also, have a 28 Gauge single barrel that I have shot two boxes at a time through without any...

What is 20 gauge pump shotgun recoil like?

If I were in your shoes and I thought that my petite wife were going to be firing a shotgun in self-defense, I would get a semi-auto instead of a pump. Under stress, there is a lot less to think about with a semi-auto. Secondly, the gun should fit her. It should be proportioned to her size...

    soft recoiling 20 gauge shotgun

Obviously you are a Beretta man. But, if it were my money and I wanted a soft shooting 12 gauge that would cycle anything, I would have to take a serious look at the Browning Maxus. Adjustable stock. Under 7 pounds. 3" model cycles loads down to 7/8 ounce.

    soft recoiling 20 gauge shotgun

Have you considered the Browning Silver Hunter? In addition to soft recoil, the speed load feature is a big plus for target shooting.

    Cleaning Browning Silver and Maxus

I use to own a Browning Gold Hunter 3" in 12 gauge. I recall having problems with the gun cycling. After I got rid of the gun, I figured out that the problem was that I had never cleaned factory packing grease off the recoil spring and holder. Maybe I did not read the manual as well as I...

Best turkey gun for 11 y/o

How about a 28 gauge NEF Pardner? I believe they come with modified choke. I remember using a single shot 16 gauge when I was not much older and I did okay with it. 28 should have substantially less recoil while still doing the job.

Trulock Chokes vs Browning Invector Plus??

If you haven't already read this article by Randy Wakeman, it may provide you with needed information. http://www.chuckhawks.com/browning_shotgun_choke_performance.htm

    Plastic Wad Fouling?

What you are describing almost sounds like the preservative that you find in new barrels. Is this a new barrel and did you clean it before firing it? If the barrel was clean before firing, I believe you might be looking at plastic from wadding. Remington bore bright does a good job of...

    Youth-to-Adult Conversion

I did it on a Browning BPS Micro. The shotgun came with what they called growth insurance and so you had a 5 year window from when you bought it to change it over. Browning had me send it back to the factory and they matched the wood for a new stock and forearm. They made the change and then...

    20 Ga Pump

I highly recommend the Browning BPS. Depending on what you are looking for, you can get it with a 26" or 28" in the Hunter model or with a 22" barrel in their Upland Special model. I enjoy mine very much.

Need a shotgun for upland, possibly clays

I have been in your shoes. When I was a kid being raised by my widowed grandmother, we were too poor to own a gun of any sort, so I occasionally borrowed a single shot 16 gauge from one of my cousins. I am still fond of memories of that gun even though it did not belong to me. Several years...

Need a shotgun for upland, possibly clays

For Pheasants and occasional clays, I recommend a Browning BPS Hunter in 20 gauge. Couple that with a Truelock Precision Hunter choke and you have a combination thats hard to beat for Pheasant, and is light enough to carry all day without wearing you out. I have one that I have used for clays...

16 ga. Why or why not

It is my understanding that the Browning BPS 16 gauge guns are built on a 20 gauge frame.
