Smogmage - if you haven't already, you might want to check out the WFT - World's Fastest Trimmer - at Little Crow Gun Works, LLC. Website: www.littlecrowgunworks.com
It's quite the tool. Powered by your cordless drill, once set to your case's OAL, it trims a piece of brass in 1-2 seconds -...
Thanks, Fellas. I reckon I'll do the smart thing - load up a few starting low (prolly around 45 grs., creep back up to 48, and see how they shoot. Last IMR4350 I used was DuPont; this new stuff is Hodgdon. Ain't no sense in blowing my fingers off or wrecking a rifle to save an hour or two.
Pet load in my 7x57 has been 48 grains of IMR 4350 with a 154 grain Hornady Interlock for years. I've tested it up to 50 grains with no apparent problems, but settled on the 48 gr. load a long time ago because it's well under max in my rifle, consistently prints nice tight groups, and been a...
...which is why I keep a pair of J-frame .38's bedside instead of a cocked and locked SA.
I realize this does not explain the slam fire in your situation, but it keeps me from ever having to explain one in mine.
Better safe than sorry.
Had the same problem with my Ruger 77, .223 coyote rifle. Took it to my gunsmith. He glass beaded the barrel, parkerized it, or something. I don't know exactly what he did, but it now wears a beautifully uniform dull matte finish.
Larry's written post (see link referenced in the original) is the most complete, accurate and superbly articulated argument debunking the gun control myth I've ever seen.
All of us should send copies to our legislators. I suspect at least some of them might actually recognize the foolishness...

I wonder if these guys (County Sheriffs) are consulting with...
Hey Pyzon, Thanks for your commentary. And no, I didn't see it as critical, though even if it were meant to be, it would still have been well received. There's no harm in constructive criticism. Truth is the best teacher. That's why I posed this question here. I knew I'd receive wise counsel...
Thanks again to all for your wise counsel. I promise you it will not go unheeded.
To clarify a few things and answer some of your questions:
1. We were parked next to my son's pickup - driver's side to driver's side. My wife had been driving, so I was on the passenger side. We had already...
Oh yeah. Absolutely. He definitely stared this guy down, but it scared hell out of us. The tension between them for that long, grueling moment was almost unbearable, and the thought that the "neanderthal" might actually harm my kid is also the moment I seriously considered drawing my weapon...
I live in Colorado and have been carrying concealed for about two years. Yesterday, my wife, son & I experienced an unprovoked altercation in a mall parking lot with an extremely aggressive "assailant." We suspect the guy may have been coked up or high on something, but we don't know for sure...
I've pretty much given up writing to my senators and congressmen. They always reply with a BS infused form letter; they never take a stand, they never commit to a position. I've come to see them as almost irrelevant, spineless, impotent fence straddlers. I have little faith in them to do the...
