best model make ect for chambering 30-30

I'm partial to the marlin 336 myself. I believe it has fewer moving parts than the winchester, and will be a better value. My glenfield model 30(same thing as a 336) cost me $250 a few years ago. I've never seen an 1894 that low.

Does this sound like a scam?

Money orders and cashier's checks are prepaid. You don't need to wait for them to clear.

    Hunting with the 357 mag...

I took a doe at about 40 yards last year using wolf 158 grain jhp. It made it about 20 yards. If I were to do it again, I'd handload an XTP in 158 180 grain.

50mm Objective on Mule Deer Rifle?

I don't generally go bigger than 40 for big game. When you mount them high, it's tougher to keep a good cheek weld with the stock, and errors from not having the rifle perfectly level are magnified. They're heavier than they need to be as well. I use adjustable parallax on varmint rifles, but...

    Why the Savage model 24V?

I got a 22lr/20 gage thinking it would be a good squirrel gun. .22 for when there's plenty of room in front of you, shotgun when there isn't. It's also a suitable woods bum gun. You could hunt small game with it and keep a fewgslugs in your pocket for deer. As with any versatile tool, it...

    Adding Fat to Lean Meats

For burger, I don't add fat when it's ground. For burgers, I mix olive oil with it along with powdered beef stock. For sausage, where real fat is used, I'll mix it in when I mix the spices. For chili or anything else where the meat is browned, I use the oil to brown it.

Does your gun club allow booze?

Ours has a 3.2 liquor license. It's sold at meetings, events and during trap league. People will have a couple of beers before shooting trap, but I've never seen anyone overdo it. Never seen anyone drinking on the pistol or rifle range.

    hunting caliber advice needed

You have calibers that will cleanly kill anything you may run across. Your flat shooter is the .243, so you may want something .270-7mmish. For the most part, the .243 will cover anything you would want to do with a .223, unless you get into colony varmints or saving pelts, but the .223 will eat...

    204 Question

You're not starting out with much bullet mass to start with, and most of the bullets made for it are quite frangible. If they made bigger, less frangible bullets, and twisted the barrels faster to shoot them, I'd be fairly comfortable with the notion. As things are, I'd be a little uncomfortable...

    Marlin 336 Enhanced Survival Carbine

It doesn't need porting. You could go cheaper and have a bigger compartment in the stock if it went with IMP instead of laminated stock.

    more stuck bull

They'd probably work in a muzzle loader with sabots.

    Which Scope Ring Lapping Tool?

Flavalanche, you don't need to worry about the rings or scope being out of round; you're worried about the rings lining up straight so that they don't bend or mark up the scope tube. The scope is going to be pretty straight. The rings are problematic because they have a lot of stack up where...

    Employ pricing at Cabelas

I used it yesterday to buy a couple of things. The bargain cave stuff wasn't discounted at all. The sleeping bag stuff sack, bullets, and the snap caps were about 20% off.

    S&W Model 1500

Howa 1500 as stated above. I have the Weatherby Vanguard version in .257 Weatherby. It's a very well made rifle and mine shoots small groups. A little heavier than they need to be and they don't come in a true short action, but they're one of the better values out there.
