WWII Browning Machine Guns buried in peat for 70 years fire again!

I'd suppose the term "made safe" means something like welding a rod into the barrels... Makes me sick to think about it. These guns saved the English during the Battle of Briton... Now they have to be "made safe."

NRA petition to fire AG Holder

Two minor points: 1. "Closing the loophole" by requiring all sales to go through an FFL pretty much establishes a form of registration by requiring a paper trail on all gun sales. Once this is done, confiscation is MUCH easier, since the government knows where all the guns are, or at least...

    Family heirloom guns....

My dad collected hundreds of guns over his lifetime, and after he died in '98, I kept a few that had memories and a few more I never knew he had. The gun I value over all others though, and the most worthless monetarily, is the single shot Remington Model 33 rifle his widowed mother gave him in...

    Is Souter retiring?

Since Souter is a liberal, no immediate damage will be done, but his successor and any other Obama appointees will be around for a LONG time to come. For anyone who's comfortable with this, think of it this way: Our Second Amendment rights depend ENTIRELY on the continued good health of FIVE...

    NYC gun collector arrested

I sure hope he will sue the City under Heller. Should be a great case. That would be nice, but it takes MONEY... Marty

"A New Day Dawning for Gun Violence Prevention"

I want to reply to this, (the site posted one of my rebuttals to one of Helmke's rants on a different article,) but I don't even know where to start. Sometimes the Brady Bunch truly outdoes itself. Marty

"A New Day Dawning for Gun Violence Prevention"

http://opposingviews.com/articles/op...nce-prevention The usual Brady Bunch drivel. I tried posting the article, but it was too long. As most of us already know, we're in for a fight... Marty

Would you shoot a fleeing intruder in the back?

Very unlikely I'd shoot a fleeing intruder. However, it would also depend on whether I figured my family was in serious danger of a return visit. Is he just a thief, or is he intent on harming a member of my family? Marty

    The liberals

woops... I'm another one who voted "none of the above" before I realized I was only supposed to vote if I'm liberal. I haven't been liberal for more than 30 years... Marty

Almost had to shoot a skunk last night.

Like Ringtail, I go along with the mothball solution. I had a skunk move into my garage, and after throwing a couple of boxes of mothballs around, the skunk moved out. It would have been more fun shooting the thing, but my garage would've stunk for weeks. Marty

    1911 or a .22

If you don't have a .22, go for it. Inexpensive to shoot, lots of fun, and excellent practice. I worship at the alter of John Moses Browning's 1911, and think it's the greatest pistol ever built, but everyone should have a .22. Marty

    CCW Nebraska...Help

I've lived in Iowa for the past 33 years, but I grew up in Nebraska, and I'll always be a Nebraska boy. However, I've long been confused, disappointed, and embarrassed, by Nebraska's stance on CCW. Much can be explained by the influence of Omaha and Ernie Chambers, but not the asinine stance...

    22 lr ammo not recommended

Some of this DOES depend on the gun you're shooting. I shoot .22 RF because it's cheap, so I don't search much among the more expensive products. I have an old Colt Woodsman that ticks along like a watch on WalMart's cheap bulk Federals, but it chokes on Remington Goldens. The Marvel...

Gun in the face at the range

I go to a free, outdoor, public range just off the edge of my dinky Iowa town, with no range officers at all, and have seen surprisingly few problems. I don't know if it's because a higher percentage of people around here have grown up around guns or what... The people I meet at the range...
