    Weak Primers

I should have explained initially that I drilled out the flash holes. I May need to give the shotgun primers a try.

    Weak Primers

Dimensionally SPP and SRP are identical and they were seated flush. There was no ignition failure as there was residue from detonated primers and in some cases residual pressure.

    Weak Primers

Has anyone had an issue with weak WSR primers? I loaded up some wax .38spl cartridges by melting wax and placing some .38 casings mouth down until the wax cooled. I then used WSR primers as the only propellant. About 1/3 of the rounds failed to fire so I disassembled the duds to see what was...

Did you put the Bisley hammer in, or did it come that way?

    Pietta, Uberti, or Ruger.

The Uberti’s are beautiful guns. My issue is authenticity. If I’m going to buy a gun that has safeties beyond what Colt had originally designed, then I might as well buy a Ruger. If I can’t have the closest thing to authentic that I can get without spending a fortune, then I’ll buy the toughest...

Beautiful Old Army. Mine’s similar, but has the longer loading lever. It looks like you got one of the limited run Talos from, I think, 2017.

I like Freedom Arms guns, but can’t stand adjustable sights on a single action.

    They do, in .327 Federal.

I was looking on Gun Broker at a Taylor’s (Uberti) they call the Gunfighter. It uses an army grip which, I assume, is the same as the El Patron Grizzly Paw. If this is the same grip as the 1860 army, I may get it. I don’t have large hands, but the 1860 is probably the most comfortable single...

I’ve got a stainless ROA with fixed sights that I’ve considered buying a cartridge cylinder for. Of my C&B revolvers, it is probably my favorite overall with my 2nd gen stainless 1860 army as a very close second.

Lately I’ve really got the itch to buy a single action revolver in .357. I’m thinking I want a Colt reproduction and I’ve been looking at Uberti and Pietta. I’ve read that Uberti has gone away from the four click action and started making all their single action cartridge revolvers with the...

Ruger SP101: Love it, Hate it, or...?

I bought one new in 2001 for $355. It was a .357 with 3” barrel and had a hammer spur. It was my first concealed carry gun and I shot ok with it. I practiced both single and double action shooting because I always figured if I needed it in a defensive situation where time allowed, I’d shoot...

    Ruger old army question

I agree that the thickness really doesn’t come in to play for the average shooter. It is nice though to know we own the strongest and most reliable black powder revolver ever produced.

    Ruger old army question

I like the durability of stainless, but also prefer the looks of blued or color case guns. I live in soggy western Oregon though, so if I can buy stainless, I do.

    Ruger old army question

Nothing wrong with the New Army. Replacement parts are a lot easier to find than for the ROA, but the ROA is a lot less likely to need them.
