Ruger SR911 or Remington R1? What do you hate and like about them?

I love my SR 1911. Feels great, recoil is smooth, shoots better than I do, and is reliable. I have used Ruger CS before and they were nice, prompt and got my gun back ahead of schedule. Plus the stainless finish is beautiful. I have about 2500 rounds through it and its like butter...

Why choose 1911 over a revolver?

I own both, but a 1911 is easier to carry for me. More compact, if that makes sense. But I also just love my 1911 more than any of my other handguns. It's easier to shoot, feels great in my hand, and all around is a gorgeous gun. Another .02: metal over plastic all day.

Ruger SR911 or Remington R1? What do you hate and like about them?

Love my Ruger I've had it for about six months now and it runs smooth as can be. I love the look, the feel is great, and their service, should you ever need it, is superb. The gun shoots much better than I do, so I can't comment on accuracy.

    RUGER Customer Service

Ruger CS was top notch in every respect. Friendly, helpful, and returned my pistol much earlier than expected. I'm a big fan.

    Aurora, CO Massacre

Spent the day watching TV (recovering from surgery) and I can tell you CNN and virtually all the antis are in full throated roar. See mayor Blumberg's comments made within a couple hours of the shooting. Those that do not believe this will result in massive push against the 2nd Amendment are...

How often do you clean your pistols?

I tend to be a neat freak about my guns. I clean them every time they're used. But I have seen guys say that it's not necessary nor advisable to take them apart and clean them so often. What do you do?

    Good Ruger customer service experience

I recently contacted them and they were intelligent, nice, and very responsive. They don't hesitate to take your weapon back and work on it, an the turnaround seems quick.

What is the last gun that you bought?

SR1911. My first 1911 and I'm loving it. It's like setting fire to a stack of twenties every time I go to the range though...

recoil spring 14lbs and main spring 19lbs for PX745S 45ACP

Along these lines, and something I searched for but didn't find an answer is: I have an old S&W 645. It's had several thousand rounds through it, but I hadn't thought about the recoil spring being worn out until I got my new SR1911. The new 1911 shoots so much more smoothly right out if the box...

In The Market For New 1911

Just to make all of you non-CA gun owners feel good, (and not to digress from the thread!) let me tell you the prices you consistently quote are NOT available in this stalag-state. The govt "regulates" guns and ammo until its apparently way overpriced and therefore out of the reach of most...

    which 45 to trade for?

Ruger SR 1911 is a very nice gun for the price.

In The Market For New 1911

Just got a Ruger after a lot of research. Am not at all disappointed. And it's SS, with a lot of the stuff you'd pay more for aftermarket.

    Top 3 handguns and why?

Ruger SR1911 (because I just got it and it's everything I hoped it would be. It fits my hand like a glove besides being incredibly easy to shoot) S&W 645: it was good enough for Sonny Crockett, and it's heavy enough to beat the BG to death if you run out of ammo. Ruger P95: never EVER failed...
