    S&W from 70s

The K-frame magnums (models 13, 19, 65, and 66) were designed for heavy bullet 357 loads. If you stick with 158gr projectiles and don't over-presure your handloads, any should last a lifetime. As my last post, however, I would suggest a medium frame dedicated 38spl revolver for range use...

    S&W from 70s

I would add that for range use, a model 14 in 38spl (a K-frame) is the centerfire revolver I would recommend. It came in 6 inch and 8 inch barrels, with adjustable sights. The model 15 is much the same, but with a shorter barrel. On the other hand, I love the large frame (N-frame) revolvers...

    Used nano price

To me, the warranty of buying a new gun has some worth, apart from the lack of wear on a used gun. So, buying even a LNIB, unfired without warranty Nano, would have to be discounted for me. Only the individual buyer, however, can judge the value of a product to him/her. For a new gun, Buds has...

    Used nano price

The last three months I have seen internet deals on Nanos, one for $305+shipping and one for $319 including shipping. However, it looks like those sales are over right now, and $370+ is the norm. One thing is for sure, there are a lot of guns out there right now, and fewer buyers. Prices have...

CZ Compact (9mm steel) can not rack slide

There was a 72 year old woman in my office that came to me for gun advice for HD. I advised her to get a medium frame S&W revolver in 38spl, and even brought in a model 15 that I would have sold her cheap, even though I didn't really want to. A few months later, she brings her LEO trade in...

CZ Compact (9mm steel) can not rack slide

I think that video is off. The key, IMO, is to use your torso to push the lower forward. Your off-hand simply holds the slide so it doesn't go forward, while your strong hand, locked close to your stomach, is the lever for the back muscles. Your hands and your arms do almost no work--the vastly...

Looking For a 9mm Pistol; Kind of Picky

Palmetto Armory is having a sale right now on S&W, $449 + $15 shipping, but you also get a $100 gift card. Gen 3 Gock 19s are quite cheap right now, at or slightly under $500. Of the two, I'd probably go with the S&W, and get a trigger job done, or do my own with Apex parts. I'll put out...

Help Me Decide Between Two N-frames

With all those pretty smiths, I'd consider just marrying the guy. Then you can have them all.

Capacity VS Caliber - Home Defense

A handgun is what you use to fight your way to your rifle. Get an AR carbine in 5.56 NATO with a twenty round magazine with good hollow points. Easy for you or your wife to handle. Keep a magazine handy with steel core in case the bad guys bring body armor.

    Price of a CZ Po1

I went through Grab-a-gun to get my P01, but that was a few years ago now, and no one locally stocked them. Even back then I think I paid $540 with shipping, plus another $25 for the tansfer fee. But, I didn't pay sales tax. If in Florida, you might try the chain Shoot Straight. A lot of people...

Narrowed my 9mm. to 5 choices hellp!

    I second this sentiment.

    Making a 3" S&W K-frame

    >Before cutting the barrel I would try to find a 3" barrel. That way a competant gunsmith could simply swap out the barrels. You might find one on Gunbroker, GunsAamerica, or even Ebay. Unless you get the barrel cheap (which is possible), you may end up spending more money than just having it...

    Making a 3" S&W K-frame

I think it is a great idea; with the right tools it could be done at home. However, there are a lot of tools, so a gunsmith would be the route I would go. Haven't priced it, but I bet it is under $200, plus buying a new front sight.

Manual safetys on semi pistols - yes or no?

I never use an external safety on my handguns. I don't really care if a gun has one or not; I do not use them.
