    Indeed, loaded with .357 magnum bullets it's a nice easy 250 yard farm rifle. And hot loaded 140gr copper solids are absolute low recoil killers.

    Going to necrothread this one for kicks. I have a 35 Whelen Garand as a tanker and it shoots all bloody day long (no muzzle brake so it will take a bayonet as well). 200gr loads will fill entire en-bloc clip (8 rounds), but the heavier loads (250gr & up) require only 7 in the clip or jamming...

    If you want to shoot a mile with a SS projectile try the 230gr Berger Hybrid. You mentioned a 30" barrel so 70gr RL-25 will get you 2809fps at the muzzle safely. Using QuickLoad v3.8 to get my numbers.

    Is the guy standing beside his products and offering to replace bad items? Yes. Does ANY 1.0 product come out flawless? Nope. I'd cut him some slack. And thanks for the tip. Considering this for an M44 conversion. Could be neat.

    Can I go out on a limb and suggest a CMP special Garand? Seems to fit a lot of your requirements and won't break the bank. ($995 or so)
