    Build a AR?

I think every one might have a differing opinion of what constitutes a solid carbine.. This one for instance had a BA Hanson barrel, Aero Precision stripped upper and lower, Larue MBT 2S trigger, Toolcraft nitride BCG and Magpul furniture. I agree about watching sales, that's how I normally...

    Build a AR?

I just finished one up for my neighbor last week, total came to just under $1000 minus sights/optic. Just a solid carbine, nothing special. All the ones I've built for myself have been north of the $2K mark. When I starting putting them together I put together a tool kit, which I add to...

What other hobbies occupy your loading bench?

Strictly reloading, I've got other tables/benches for projects:

Do you use wind flags during load development ?

I do.. Because I could throw out a decent load due to a missed wind call. Here in KS there's ALWAYS wind. It might be so small that my Kestrel can't pick it up, but it's there.

    The Colt 9mm Carbine - A Mini-Review

I've had mine for a few years, set it up to match my LE6920 for practice and PCC matches. I also dropped a Geiselle SSA-E trigger in it, just like my 6920. Utterly reliable with my 147grn IDPA loads and I love running carbine drills with it as it doesn't screw up my AR500 tgts. It also has more...

    Extractor Issues?

I've put a few AR15s and I've had 1 bolt (out of 20 or so) that would close on a "Field Gauge". I tried it in 4 other AR15s with the same result, closed on a No-Go and a Field Gauge. I then contacted the supplier and they shipped out a new bolt immediately. Stuff happens.

    Trying out leupolds firedot reticle

Which is exactly how I use them for my 3GUN optic (VX6HD 1-6X) and my woods carbine (VX3HD 1.5-5X). Just as fast as using a RDS, but with some magnification when you need it.

What do you actually size your 223 cases to?

Even then they're probably quite a bit undersized as the majority of ARs I've checked headspace on will close on a no-go gauge, but not a field gauge. But since it's .223 and fired in an AR, most likely to get lost well before case head separation.. no big deal.

Packing for a Pig Hunt: How many guns??

About 20 minutes outside Ft. Sill, south and east of Chickasaw, my friend has a 650 acre lease. They don't get pigs all the time on their place, when they do come it's normally in mid-Jan through now.

    Who scopes their .22s?

I do: Ruger 77-22 with 3x9x36 Leoupld: Bergara B14R with Vortex 5-25x56 PST: S&W AR15/22 with Vortex Strikefire: and a Ruger 10-22 with a Leupold 3-9x36 Compact. Now this wears irons cause it's supposed to:

What do you actually size your 223 cases to?

How are you measuring to SAAMI specs? I can measure my actual headspace gauges using my comparators, and not get the actual SAAMI specs. My comparators are just that, they compare, but don't measure against specs, and honestly it wouldn't matter if they did because my chamber "is what it is"...

    .22 LR long-ish (long-er) range

I use 50yds, but that's because it's the shortest distance from my bench. My bench runs down the length of my dam (50-300yds) and there's no such thing as "zero wind" at my place: I can go shorter, but it's just as easy to shoot 50yds, then use combination of a Kestrel wind meter, wind flag...

Cheapest, easiest way to trim a lot of .223 brass?

My method as well, with the same exact drill press..

How are these guys getting any accuracy shooting like this?

I competed in BPCS and BPCR mid and long range, as well as buff matches. My rifles and loads were j sub MOA using cast bullets, iron sights and with the barrels resting on sticks. It's important to note, that the stick placement wasn't hap hazard, I did my load development off of sticks, and I...

Help me find a muzzle brake

I've got a Hellfire and it works well. Depending on your noise tolerance, you might want to take a look at the Hypertap: https://precisionarmament.com/hypertap-muzzle-brake/ I've got one on my 3Gun rig. Works great, but is LOUD.
