How to Defend Oneself with a Knife (or, how to get started finding a knife)

Your best option is to carry a sword. Sadly, that's basically not allowed anywhere. If you want to damage vital organs, you need about 5" at a minimum. Even if you do reach vital organs, stabbing someone in the heart or lung is not your most efficient means of ending a fight. As many stated...

Hang the Cold Steel Trench Hawk From Your BELT!

I write a blog. Once in a great while I will repost an article here, if I feel it will benefit the general population. The entire post is here, you do not have to go to the blog for add'l info, but the link is at the very bottom. Thank you. Who else bought a Cold Steel Trench Hawk and then...

Made my first knife sheath ever

Looks good, man. Take care of it and it will probably outlast you.

How many knives do you carry?

    2. Recon 1 in front right pocket, Cold Steel AK-47 on back left pocket.

Ok, I need a new knife.

My vote for EDC folder goes to Cold Steel Recon I. I carry a tanto point, half-serrated. Eventually the pocket clip will quit grabbing so hard if you abuse it. At that point, you unscrew it, bend it back into place using 2 pairs of pliers, and remount the thing. Good to go for another...

    Office/formal carry?

Please help me pick something. I normally carry a S&W M&Pc .40 just about everywhere. My current job requires tucked-in polos and the occasional suit. A lot of sitting at a desk is involved. I do not trust the chunky M&P with printing. Any suggestions? I consider .40 to be an adecuate...

Do I really need any other caliber than 9mm?

For brown bear or larger humans I would be looking at a .357 or .44 magnum. I have nothing to base that on other than opinion, but I would not want to face any ursine creature with a 9mm.

Raw footage: 2 vs 1 in mall (WARNING: Graphic violence)

Yes, you're missing something. Ther's a law of averages and some neighborhoods are best avoided. Gang violence does not tend to break out in areas not frequented by gang members. Emphasis on the TEND.

    Lacking the killer instinct?

Ya'll have kids? Anybody trying to hurt her will then hurt her kids. Maternal instincts should kick in. I think any mother can find that killer instinct.

Strange going ons in a mall parking lot.

"Being as I had just left work I didn't have my CCW on me, and even if I had brought it with me that day, it would have still been residing in the glove box." Thank you for the lesson. I'm putting this on a little post-it note inside my front door.

    CCW policy at range

What makes sense for lawsuits: No drawing from holsters. If you come in with a loaded weapon, it better be concealed in a holster and stay there. Unfortunately in this country, nowadays, anything less will likely get you sued out of business sooner or later. Sucks but true.

Raw footage: 2 vs 1 in mall (WARNING: Graphic violence)

The lessons to be learned: 1) Always be ready. 2) What mall was that? DO NOT GO THERE. 3) DO NOT GO to any place like it.

    NAA Mini vs knife

Carry both. For one adversary I'd recommend the NAA. Unless you're feeling lucky. Are you feeling lucky? Problem with a knife is that you may one day walk into a gun fight and not know it till it's too late. Would also like to say that a knife is harder to defend in court. Nowadays...

Ever Ankle Carry an M&P Compact?

Please, help me out. I know I should get a good holster if I'm going to ankle carry. I have an M&P compact in 40 that I really like and I'd rather not buy a new gun right now. Has anybody ever carried an M&P compact on their ankle? As for the reasons why, I recently got a new job with a...
