School Me - What is the point of a big 'ol rail?

JMHO, didn't realize some of you are the sensitive type. Just what I observed through ten years in the Infantry. One guy does something to their equipment or weapon if its considered "cool" half the company's doing it next week. Sorry if I abused anyone.

NY starts confiscating guns from registrations

Californistan starts gun registration on Jan 1st. That's the problem their having in Colorado, rich folk from New York and California like to vacation there.

School Me - What is the point of a big 'ol rail?

I don't feel the need to carry my belongings on the fore stock of my rifle. Never understood the need to make a light handy carbine into a front heavy 13 pound turd. But its "what's cool in school" and not about what's really needed. More is less and less is more.

Anyone have a gun that fits "just right"?

The Ruger Mini's they fit me perfectly. Trigger guard could be bigger for gloves though.

22 LR Solution - RAISE PRICES THROUGH THE ROOF

The price is already ridiculous. I'm holding about 750 rnds. If I use it just for hunting it should take me to the grave. I refuse to buy at the current prices, they can keep it. Get a good 22 cal air rifle. I own a RWS M48, kills small game right up to Coon and Fox. Pellets...

    5.56 Wall penetration.

I meant it more as straying from its original direction. What's the term for that,... straying?

    5.56 Wall penetration.

I can see your point there, under stress I would also be more likely to hit with a shoulder fired weapon. I guess that's why I prefer the shotgun over the pistol. Buckshot seemed to do some yawing after a couple walls also.

    5.56 Wall penetration.

My thoughts are if I could send the bullet in a safe direction, ( although I doubt there's going to be time for that ) like through a empty kitchen or out toward the garage, it would be somewhat better than going though two walls and then maybe down the hall or through occupied bedrooms. I...

    5.56 Wall penetration.

I would like to continue the 5.56 verses pistol caliber wall penetration debate. From the links ugaarguy sent me, ( thanks much ) of tests conducted between 5.56 and 9mm, this is what I noticed. Pistol ammo went through all three courses of sheet rock wall. It pretty much stayed its course...

    Two for one trade.

Pablo, I'll take my M1A if I need something in 308. That or my 700 in 308. I needed a couple more rifles for 7.62x39. I just didn't need a rifle in 223. Besides, total investment for two Russian's $480. That's only $240 apiece and both in really good shape with all matching numbers...

    Two for one trade.

Carbine85, no the mags aren't Ruger, but there not USA mags. Promag maybe, there very well made, have a good finish and function excellently. Swampwolf, I still have two mini 30's in the locker. I picked this mini up for $400 last year. Traded a 80 power spotting scope for the mags a...

    Two for one trade.

Thanks for the input guys. I could of traded for a P-38 in 9mm and a Marlin 336 in 30-30, or one SKS and one of the former. Two matching rifles to tuck away for a rainy day seemed like a good idea.

    Two for one trade.

Just traded a 189 mini 14 and eight 30 rnd mags for two nice Russian SKS's. I know used mini's are going for a bit more than they used to, but what about the Russian SKS ? What's a fare price for one in very good condition? I'm set up ammo wise for 7.62x39. Bought thousands of rounds...

Is Controlled Round Feed a Must in a Scout Rifle?

I've tested my 700 to see if I could lose a round while feeding the chamber, sideways, upside down, pointed up, pointed down, fast and extremely slow. Never dropped a round and no failure to feed. Only use it for whitetails around home though, so it gets cleaned alot.
