    Px4 Storm: Good? Bad?

The 9mm PX4 was my very first handgun, purchased new 4 yrs ago. Since that time it has eaten a few thousand FMJ rounds of various ammo brands and weights without a single hiccup, ever. I've also tried 2 or 3 different types of SD ammo and they also fed/fired/ejected without a single issue. I now...

    Selling two guns at Cabelas.

When they offered me $600, I was happy with the offer because it was 2/3 of the price I paid for the gun 4 years ago. What surprised me was the fact they are selling a used gun for almost the same price as a new one, so I was thinking it would be in the $750-$800 range based on the used prices I...

    Selling two guns at Cabelas.

Here's my recent experience with trading-in a gun at Cabela's- I had a 9mm Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry II in perfect condition that I traded-in for a new VP9. Cabela's gave me the option of $550 cash or a $600 gift card for the Kimber, which I accepted and applied to the cost of the VP9. A few...

    Question about a Beretta 96

Yes, the 40 cal. Model 96 barrel and magazine can be replaced with a 9mm Model 92 barrel and magazine, giving you the option to shoot 2 different calibers with 1 pistol. But, you cannot swap a 40 cal barrel into a 92 frame because the 9mm breach face is too small for the 40 cal. casing.

Kimber solo... Good choice? Bad choice?

I don't own a Solo, but I have the Ultra Carry II which is also a 9mm with the 3" barrel. It's the most expensive paperweight I've ever purchased. I've returned it to Kimber a number of times to address cycling/jamming issues and it now only jams 3 or 4 times per 50 rounds (147 gr), which is a...

Budget 9mm for Small Hands...Opinions on Steyr M9A1 and the Beretta PX4 Storm

I'm not familiar with the Steyr, but I have a 9mm full-size PX4 that I bought new 3 yrs ago and it is my favorite range gun. I have shot a few thousand rounds through it without a single hiccup or issue of any type. Shoot; clean; repeat. And you can't beat Beretta quality, as I currently own 5...

    Cabela's Sale: S&B Primers for $17.99/brick

When I just checked, it no longer shows local availability for the S&B primers, which is very odd, it was working earlier today. I can still see local availability for CCI, Winchester, and Federal primers, but they are not on sale. Maybe the sale price is for online purchases only and they have...

    Cabela's Sale: S&B Primers for $17.99/brick

Nice price for primers, not including the $20 HAZMAT fee if you have them shipped. This may be a "one day only" sale. I also noticed that they have added a new function to their primer and powder listings that will let you check availability in their stores, which will come in very handy for...

    Springfield RO vs 1092 Colt

Bullbarrel- I agree with your assessment of the RO trigger, based on my experience. I purchased a new 9mm RO Compact last week and went to the range this weekend to give 'er a go. The gun functioned flawlessly and I like most everything about it, but I am not impressed with the trigger. It was...

    Vision Problems limiting shooting ability

When I was young, I had exceptionally good vision, but that all changed as I approached my 45th birthday. That's when I first noticed that it was becoming more difficult to read small print, and as a machinist, being able to read the vernier scale on micrometers/calipers. First, it was...

    Kimber Ultra 9mms

I bought a new 9mm stainless Ultra Carry II about 2 years ago, and I will not buy another Kimber. Right out of the box it was prone to stovepipes and failure to eject, so I sent it back for repairs. When it was returned to me, it worked fine but not for very long- maybe 200-300 rounds before it...

    Ruger SR1911 Questions

My first 1911 was a full-size SR1911, which I bought new for $650, followed by the CMD that I bought on sale for $570. Both are still completely stock, including the magazines, and each has gone through approx 1k rounds of ball ammo without a single hiccup. The SR1911 is a great value in the...

    Which Kimber

I have a Kimber Ultra Carry II (that I bought new) and it is the poster child for unreliability. In fact, at the range this afternoon I had two jams in the first 7 rounds, so back into the range bag it went. I'll be sending it back to Kimber again, and when it's returned I'll be trading it in...

    Using pistol sights with eyeglasses

I first used safety glasses with diopter lenses. The first type I tried had dual diopter lenses with a magnifying segment at the top of the lens in addition to the "bifocal" lens at the bottom. They require you to drop your head a smidge to use the top magnifying lens for picking up the front...
