Yes, the handgun has to be completely concealed/hidden from view. It doesn't have to be in a box or in the trunk, but a passerby should not be able to see it when looking through your windows.
Edit: I don't know about the CHL rules.

I'm thinking about picking up either that or a Galco COP 3 for my Glock 19..

Take a look at Survivalist Boards and Zombie Squad for great BOB info. as well as planning, etc.
I wouldn't use them for firearms information, just as I would not use THR for BOB/PAW info.
But that's just me:)
If the belt/rig works for you, do it.
Personally, I prefer the old LC1/2 Alice Rigs. But I'm only in the Navy and don't go door to door.. Just live in a yellow submarine;)

My dad carries a fighting-type cane (looks like a regular one to me..) and has learned a few tricks when using it.
He hasn't had to use the cane on any two legged predators, but he says it did a mighty fine job on a pit bull and rottweiler that came after him.
