38/357-What size groups do you get at 25 meters?

That's some damn fine shooting, Smith357. I can respect a small group, but I love seeing the center of a target blown to pieces.

38/357-What size groups do you get at 25 meters?

Seems like a darn fine group to me. 4" at 25 yards, offhand? I'd take that and call it a successful day. I've worked up loads that my 5.5" 357 Redhawk loves - benchrested, I can get sub 1" groups if I really, REALLY focus, at 25 yards. Offhand, same loads, same distance, I get about 6"...

.44 Special "Frontal Area" vs .45 ACP

That 'frontal area' given in the other thread was a bit of a made-up number - meplat is the more important one. The meplat diameter is the flat area at the front of a bullet - it's important because the meplat is what actually does the cutting in tissue - a wider meplat means more tissue...

Are Revolvers inferior to a Glock?

Why oh why did all these people obsessed with tactical tupperware invade the revolver forum? Scram! Everyone knows that wheel guns are real guns.

    Help Me Pick a Caliber

You have a 357 already, just shoot some 38+P defensive ammunition out of it. Problem solved.

Revolver caliber for whitetail deer and hog.

A standard 180gr Hornady XTP works fine on deer in 357. Who's being dramatic?

    Ruger GP100 wood grip options

I was thinking about giving these a try for my Alaskan, which uses the same grip peg design as the GP100. http://www.grips4u.net/product_info.php?products_id=376&osCsid=1c142b6bdaac6d3fda2371242f8c60f2

Why Should I Buy An LCR Over A 642?

I didn't run - I'm still here. The LCR has a way, way better trigger than the 642.

Why Should I Buy An LCR Over A 642?

I was going to read the whole thread, but here's your reason: Ruger > S&W.

    Nagant Question

Why not just buy the right stuff? http://www.midwayusa.com/product/951739/prvi-partizan-ammunition-762mm-russian-nagant-98-grain-full-metal-jacket-flat-point-box-of-50 The 32 S&W long will work, but cases will bulge. 32 H&R Magnum shoots fine in mine, but the cases split and sometimes...

    My first 66

1982 would be about the time that they stopped pinning and recessing the non-rimfire Smith revolvers. Maybe it's a 66-2, and they just used a leftover recessed cylinder?

    First revolver?

Owning both, I'd say you need to go hold both, but my personal nod goes to the 4" half lug GP100. Awesome gun. Nice smooth trigger, too. If you want to go the used route, you can find tons of old Security Sixes in 4 or 6" barrels used for about 350 dollars or so.
