G19 slide lock/FTE issues since Acro

Pretty sure it's not the recoil spring. It won't stay out of battery withe the trigger depressed or not, even when I try to make it. It's not a 2 pin gen 2, nor does the stock release that came with it have that spike.

G19 slide lock/FTE issues since Acro

I have a gen 2 G19. Gen 3s are hard to get in MA. Ever since putting an acro on my slide (no adapter plate, acro-specific milling) months back I've had pervasive FTE issues, often in the form of a "double feed" against the partially ejected empty casing. I've also at least once had the slide...

Auto Ordnance 1911 for "mil-spec" project gun?

bannockburn, first of all nice name. Cool historical reference. Thanks for the feedback. I had noticed the slanted slide serrations, but probably what made up my mind on the Springfield more (besides not USA made) was the modern sights. Yet yours are the old combat sights. Were those stock...

Auto Ordnance 1911 for "mil-spec" project gun?

Oh boy. I wonder what the availability of those parts will be up in these parts. Thanks for the info, though. Much appreciated. Looks great, Capn!

Auto Ordnance 1911 for "mil-spec" project gun?

Wow thanks everyone for the responses. rskent, I did a bunch of reading on series 70, pre-series 70, and series 80 too. I'm more educated but not really any more sure what I care for than before. I'm not sure I would remove the firing pin block, just saying I could if I wanted to make it as...

Auto Ordnance 1911 for "mil-spec" project gun?

Please hear me out on my reasons for this before anyone pounces. First off, I currently live in MA (which I hope to resolve sooner rather than later) where I can't buy a Colt unless it's a Competition model. Tempting, but I want an old GI plain jane 1911. So I've done hours of reading on here...

What to do with rusted and pitted case-hardened double barrel?

I'm refinishing an old Stevens 335 double barrel 12g. I got it in working but rough shape. The inside of the barrels is clean but it had rust and pitting on the barrels and all over the trigger group housing, trigger guard, etc. My plan is to brown the barrels and the trigger guard and I was...

    Remington 742

Yup I broke it all the way down. It looked like that probably hadn't been done since 1977 when it was made. The bore was clean...probably cleaned without taking down the rifle. Rather than buy a proprietary wrench I just used an adjustable and kept my thumb on it to keep it tight and avoid...

    Remington 742

I found a few articles on here, including what I'm sure is the one you're thinking of. I don't see any sign of the bolt hanging up on mine, it just won't fire. Has anyone tried just removing the stupid plastic piece and running it that way?

    Remington 742

I recently bought a Remington 742. Long story short, it was an impulse purchase from a friend. I admittedly did very little research on it beforehand, which is unusual for me, and now I'm regretting it. Took it apart (which is a pain) and thoroughly cleaned it. Was meticulous about...

    M&P mag release modification?

I got a kydex holster that did cover the mag release, but not by much. It still would pop from my weight pressing on the kydex pressing on the mag release. Also at this point I have to weigh the cost of buying and trying quality holsters vs. trying a mag release mod. I don't have this problem...

    M&P mag release modification?

I've had a recurring problem ever since I got my M&P9c. When I drive, my bodyweight sitting against the seat pops the mag release (righty carrying IWB). So God forbid I ever have to draw my weapon, I'd be an action comedy gag when my mag fell out. I stopped topping off the mag (so 9+1 instead...

    Beretta 21A malfunctions

21A ammo testing and malfunctions after polishing feed ramp After polishing the feed ramp and giving it a good cleaning, I did ammo testing on my 21A this weekend. I used all CCI brand ammo to keep things consistent. The ammo I had put through it before was CCI HP minimags (the most available...

    Beretta 21A malfunctions

Didn't get one since I bought it used, Griz. Since people on here have conflicting statements about the manual's directions on ammo, I'm wondering if the manual may have changed over the years since production started in 1984. I did look up the manual in PDF form on Beretta's website and they...

    Beretta 21A malfunctions

I have never heard this. I just assumed hotter rounds would run better in a little .22. I'll try that. Actually they are hollow points. Hard time finding any mini mags that aren't. I'll see if I have any around and see if there's a difference. Just for the record, I wasn't planning on...
