anyone know the gun laws for indian reservations?

I too am interested in firearms law on a tribal reservation, in this case the Crow Indian Reservation in south-central Montana. Have an upland bird hunting trip planned for this fall and was wondering if my pistol carry permit which is valid in Montana will also be good on the reservation.

Breaking Traditions Against Hunting and Firearms Ownership?

Here in Minnesota there is a large population of Hmong immigrants many of whom carry on a firearms tradition with their children. At one range on the east side of the Twin Cities metro area you quite often see a Hmong dad and his kids target shooting.

    Mini-14 accuracy

I think the factors in having a more accurate Mini 14 are: have one of the early Mini's (late 70's to early 80's) or one of the new 580 series Mini's when the Ruger machine tooling was/is new, add a $20 muzzle brake or flash hider to dampen barrel whip, evenly torque the gas block screws to put...

    Ressurect my Mini-14

Texasred, There's a terrific Mini14 forum at http://perfectunion.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=86 ...which will answer all your questions regarding modifying the Mini14 without pointless opinionated bashing. The older Mini 14's and the new 580 series are capable of shooting 2MOA with a few...

    Mini-14 accuracy

I also have a series 182 (1978) Mini14. Bedding or shimming the action tight in the stock does wonders for the Mini by eliminating flyers. If I do my part she'll shoot sub-2" groups at 100 yards, bench rested over sandbags. Here's an 1-3/8" group 5-shot warm barrel 100 yard group.

    Rem 870 bead removal?

I think the front beads of the 870HD are brazed on. Bought an 870HD in Cody Wyoming and had to have the gunsmith drill and tap the barrel for a new fiber optic sight. He charged me $15 plus the cost of the sight and did it while I waited. :D

Stephen Hunter book to film/Multiple thread merged

Robert Duvall, if he was 25 years younger, or Sam Shepard if he wasn't shacking-up with a left-wing moonbat would make a good Bob the Nailer. And so would Ed Harris; he was great as the psychopath bad guy in "A History of Violence."

    Giving "J-safety" the boot

You might also consider a Scattergun Technologies Oversize Safety Remington 870, 1100 found at Wilson Combat or Midway It works well with the spring and plunger that come with the J-lock. Note: this larger safety does not work with the Knoxx Spec Ops stock.

Fiber optic front sight for 870 bead-on-ramp?

I had a TruGlo fiber optic sight put on an 870HD 18" barrel. IIRC, the factory bead is brazed on so installing the TruGlo required the barrel to be drilled and tapped. Cost me $20 plus $10 for the sight to have this done by a smith in Cody, Wyoming.
