Hello gentleman,
My father in law recently contacted me because he knows I shoot and am into firearms. I do not know much about non current manufacturer guns before the early 2000s though as I am younger and my taste is of more modern guns mostly (do have a pre b CZ etc though).
One of his...
I would stick with PSA. They will be around long term and really improved their quality control and customer service over the last 2 or so years. Parts are good quality for the price you pay and they work
I have 2 ar400 12'' circles targets i bought local. I have shot them with 22lr and handgun calibers 9mm, 40, 45, .38, and 357mag as close as 10 yards and they do not show any damage. I turn them around from time time and they have lasted a few years already and have seen plenty of rounds...
Call Doug at Camera land new york. He will hook up the pricing and if there is something better he will let you know. I go to them for all things Athlon (and some other brands) and have been really happy with the service and pricing. Just ordered a Midas Tac the other week from him
Here is a pretty in depth article on modifications if you have time to read.

Amazon should sell most of the ones I linked for pretty good prices is you just search the name/model. The Mueller would be a good option IMO, better than the center point.
I understand wanting the higher magnification to see the targets well at 100 yards, but the illuminated reticle might not...
I recently read a thread on here I believe that stated the quality of the Center point scopes was lacking compared to the same model a from a few years ago. I know this is only for a 22, but depending on your budget you may be able to do better.
Check out the optic below. Lifetime warranty and...
Yeah they were running some pretty good sales. I meant Athlon Talos above, sorry for typo.
I have heard good things about the Midas line for the price as well. Really thinking of getting the newer Midas Tac 4-16-44 but holding off for some more reviews. The new primary arms 3-18 looks very good...
Call camera land NY and so to speak with doug. He will hook it up and they have black Friday deals as well as demos etc. They have many brands but something like an Athlon Talks would probably work really well for what you want. Athlon packs a lot of value in their optics
Good info above in why a cantilever still mount is best. They make rings in this some but I prefer one piece. QD style will add expense so if you can do without I would.
I wouldn't buy bottom of the barrel Chinese stuff on Amazon or eBay, but you can spend well under $100 and get something...
The Colt is a high quality gun, but if this is just for fun and you want to budget for a red dot and other things take a look at Foxtrot Mike brand at Primary arms. They were running dyone sales on them and they seem to be pretty good quality. They also offer lrhb which is a nice feature...
The gun store had to make money reselling it do they can't offer as much as what a private sale would get. They are a buisness and not going to pay you retail and make nothing in it.
For a private sale maybe offer 60-70 % of new. Also depends on the gun in both selling to a shop it someone...
