Do you break in your carry pistol with 500 rounds?

If it doesn't work right out of the box it I will not carry it. You should not have to "shoot it in" to make it reliable, you should shoot it so you are proficient with it.

    My longrifle

That is a beautiful rifle, I am a bit jealous. Does it shoot as good as it looks?

NAA Mini .22LR, will it save my life?

I have a .22 Mag version with over sized factory grips that I carry where ever I legally can and have done so for many years. When I am at the range and talk to the concealed carry commandos with their super high cap mags and fancy holsters I find most of them never carry one of their safe...

In need of small caliber rifle advice

.22 Hornet with 13 gr of Lil Gun and a 45 gr bullet gives you 2800 + fps and a whole lot of good shooting. In a decent rifle it should shoot 1.5" @ 200 yds.

    Cleaning between shots

I have used alcohol swabs which I buy at the drug store (they are used to clean the skin before an injection) for a long time and they work well. They are packaged in a foil wrap so you can carry a few in your pocket with no problem.

    Which rifle caliber?

I have a .50 cal precussion rifle and two .50 cal flinters and it is nice to have only one set of tools for all three, think about it. I don't hunt with them so the caliber doesn't matter it just happens that the first one was a .50 so why complicate the matter and buy a different one?

    Horns of a Dilemma

I have both and while the 3rd Model Dragoon is a very impressive handgun it's just another large handgun but the WALKER is THE LARGE HANDGUN. The sound and the fury of a WALKER firing can only be compared to 16" Naval guns and that is not an over statement. As big as they both are I have found...

Naa revolver as a new cc option for me

I am always amused when talking to the shooters displaying their collection of "carry guns" on the bench and when asked which one they carried to the range they usually give me an excuse for not carrying one and when they ask about mine and I produce my NAA .22 mag they look down their noses...

question about loads for 54cal bp rifle

You need to experiment with 70 and 80 gr charges to see if there is any loss of accuracy. If you loose it at 80 gr then go down to 75 and test again until you get the optimum load for you and the rifle. Round balls are light in comparison to conical bullets so you need to shoot them as fast as...

    Finding a modern flintlock musket

Cabela's offers a few rifled flinters in the $700 range that are worth looking at. Used flinters can be a huge headache if you need to have repairs made as there are few smiths that know how and parts are expensive. You can't go wrong with a new Pedersoli.

Shot my new-to-me flintlock today. Question about ball size.

A simple solution is to purchase alcohol swabs (available at the drug store and used for insulin injections) and run one down the barrel after a couple of shots. The alcohol will clean out most of the fouling and it dries fast so the bore is dry. Run a couple of patches through before you leave...

    good deal on Uberti Walkers

Shooting a WALKER is a very different experience, it is loud, makes a lot of smoke, produces a large muzzle flash but it doesn't hurt the shooter. My first time out I started with 40 gr. and worked my way to 60 and there really isn't that much difference in the recoil which I consider mild in...

    Currious about "buffalo rifles"

I am not a big fan of bruised shoulders and I enjoy shooting my Uberti 1885 Highwall (in .45-70) so instead of loading BP I use 5744 with half the powder and half the recoil with the same performance of the BP loads. There are several other smokeless loads that you can use that are "gentle" even...
