I agree with RULE
set powder measure based on individual drops - verified with a good scale
once you can get 10 individual throws consistently your good to go
averages are for approximating
Rule
Don't have any facts for you.....but here are some thoughts.
When cases are re-sized, I don't believe any work happens to the case head or primer pocket.
The brass will undergo forces during firing and will expand and contract...but there is nothing we can do to return the case head or...
Hogdgons and others have 357 rifle data...that's different than 357 pistol data
Rifle data seems to be the same charge weights as pistols for H110 that I looked up just now
but barrel lengths and velocities are different.
Rifle uses 18.5 inch barrel
And pistol uses a 10 inch barrel
I'd like...
based on your example.....the key issue is that its a tube fed lever action
recoil will cause the ammo in the tube to smack into each other - case head to bullet tip
crimping is not optional for tube fed magazines
before you seat a bullet - you are expanding the case - you won't get enough...
as i said earlier
its an open book question
I had to read a bunch of posts this week by unclenick and this guy Humpy:D
there's alot of wisdom stored in these forums
Here's my secondary guess..
I have read Blue dot can have pressure spikes....also read it could be from cold temperatures....I don't know what temperatures you had at the range
So, let's say the initial push is sending the bullet down the barrel
Then there is another smack on the bullet from a...
Hmm
I suspected this was a pop quiz
Alliant has issued warnings about high pressure with Blue dot and 357 and 41 magnums
So, I wondered if this could be related....soft recovery of the bullet has been mentioned!
So, I set my Henry 357 on the ground, made sure it was perfectly plumb with my...
Yes, get Lyman's 48th or buy the most recent edition
Also buy the bullet manufacturers manual for the bullets you use most
There's much more valuable information in the manuals than just reloading data sheets.
SAMMI's drawings are also good to print out for the calibers you use.
All reloaders...
I'll vote 2400 for the 357 for any 158 grain bullet
But prefer 2400 with coated 158 grain SWC'S, standard primer
Or
Unique with 158 swaged LSWC'S
Both give good groups at 25 yards
I’m looking to make up some 30-30 Gallery loads to shoot out of my Marlin 30-30 w/ Microgroove 20” barrel at 25 yards
I have shot the following loads based on data from this website:
http://www.gmdr.com/lever/lowveldata.htm
Powder /Charge weight / Avg velocity / SD / ES / Group size
CCI 200...
I shoot Power Pistol in 9mm
its very flashy
from what I read - its one of the most flashy powders
if you wanted flash - one of the things would be to use a very light crimp
maybe a tighter / heavier crimp might reduce flash
what powders do you have?
Bullseye is not so flashy
