I'm with Isher on the VZ-58. That or a FAL. I'm real fond of 7.62s and I don't like rotating locking bolts, even if it's fairly simple like the AKs. tilting bolt or breech block all the way for me. why? because forcing nondescript crud out of a magwell or receiver with the bolt or breech block...

if anyone is going to try comparing accuracy between the VZ, AK and SKS, it'd be prudent to use something other than lacquered wolf ammo because that may be the limiting factor and not the capability of the rifle.

they're not $60, they're $13. that's less than a lot of AR-15 mags or SKS mags. and SKS mags only work in SKSs. if you want to have ten mags on hand for your one rifle holding 300 rounds, that's only $130 in mags. not a significant investment.

That's a nice looking VZ, you know if you can remove the barrel extension that's on there and replace it with a flash hider? I don't know how those are attached..

I'm glad someone is getting some good use out of my comparison. the VZ should prove to be more accurate for a number of reasons. the lockup of the tilting locking breech block means the bolt doesn't rotate or tilt like the AK or FAL machined with a little extra space in mind for reliability, so...

from what I understand "vzor" means model, so it's the model 58 or VZ-58 made by CZ.

I vote you look at the VZ-58 if you don't want a girly little 5.56 rifle. they're cheap, reliable, and accurate given good ammo. mags can be found for $10 each. on the 5.56 front if you have the cash, a SIG would be fantastic. much better design than the AR-15, or the AR-180, not the B model...

it just requires a bit of fitting. my main complaint is that the receiver cover takedown pin hole is drilled way too high. feed ramp on mine was milled too low, but I hear they've since corrected that issue.
