M are you sure about this. Granted it has been a couple years, but MA grants non-resident hunting license, etc. I was under the impression that long guns were ok for authorized use such as at a range, etc. One thing that has Long been true is that non residents can't buy ammo.

Just about any AK would be a good trade for a G17...and possible. Many AK owners purchased when they were cheap and plentiful, so might be willing to do a straight trade for your Glock.
