    A tow worm, twisted iron wire like a coil spring tapered to screw over the wooden rammer. Will hold tow or a cloth patch.

    A friend of mine researched a gun grease made of bees wax, olive oil,lead salts, and naphtha. I just use wax and oil.

    patches I use linen scraps from the sewing room and lube with a 50-50 mix of olive oil and bees wax.

    It is a Winchester 94 .30-30. Serial number puts it mfg. in 1966, scroll engraved reciever, flat steel buttplate, plain wood, round barrel, perhaps a saddle ring that is missing.     Half Cock

    Thanks I backed the rear lock bolt out one turn and the cock now holds when I pull the trigger on half cock. It will now pass safety inspection at the range or reenactments. Again, thanks to all it was a great HighRoad experence. Geo.
