Hate to do that to a new rifle with a bronze cerakote finish

I’m looking to pick up a 6.8 western but am torn between the 20” and 24” barrel length. Does anyone have any velocity data on 6.8 western with 20” barrel? I tend to find a 24” barrel too long for hunting. I’d much prefer a 22” which browning doesn’t offer in the XBolt speed.

I already have one on order through my FFL. Gunblast video said he measured the trigger at 3lbs 2oz. Have a Romeo zero on the way for it also.

howa’s don’t all have mags protruding from the bottom. Here’s my howa 1500 in 308

According to my kitchen scales it weighs 7lb 11oz with a Leupold scope base, warne rings, and a Nikon buck master 4.5-14x40.

It was only running 2460 FPS out of the tikka according to my magnetospeed. Never chronographed it out of the howa.

Your exactly right. I ended up ordering the rifle from Whitaker’s and had right at $600 in it. I’m sure I can shrink the groups some too. In my opinion that’s all you can ask for with a lightweight rifle.

I went with a tikka T3X lite in 308. Here was the first 5 shot 100yd group with a load I had worked up for my howa.

If shooting in a AR the primer is kind of irrelevant. You will see smears on the case head from the ejector, or even a slight burr raised up before the primer flattens. That has been my experience anyways.

I believe putting the shell holder on a belt sander would do the trick. Probably just removing .002-.003” would get you where you want to be.

I feel the 338 federal is perfectly suited for 185-200gr bullets. I know it’s a niche caliber but for some reason it has a lot of appeal to me.
