    Restiching an Old Holster

It would be easiest to re sew it by pulling the seam on the front or back edge. but.. it should be very easy to re sew as all the holes are already there.

    Vacuum sealing guns and ammo.

Be careful digging it up. A spade to a .22 rim might get exciting.

    Lined holster or not?

Don't confuse smooth with soft. Soft materials like suede will allow particles to embed and those if hard will scratch. Run your fingers over the smooth side and rough side of leather, which would you want sliding over your skin all the time. The rougher surface will of course have a...

Yeah Yeah, Wood on AR UPDATE

Good input all... I got the idea of the round tube from the http://www.lesbaer.com/223varmint.html Les Bear varmint rifle. Though I didn't like ho it stops short of the gas block. My original plan was to have stripes of oak running down the hand guard which would have broken things up some...

Yeah Yeah, Wood on AR UPDATE

All very true.. and when I was turning the original, from a much thicker piece of wood, I contemplated what kind of figure or movement I could put into it. Even at it's current shape / size it's not small.. To clear the bull barrel, the gas block etc, it needed a certain inside diameter...

Lighter? I doubt it. I'll weigh it and see.

Yeah Yeah, Wood on AR UPDATE

Even before I posted I was not overly fond of the hand guard. Many of you concurred and it had to go. I've now wrapped the AL tube in Walnut.. MUCH better, better proportions. Yeah for some of you.. it's still wood.. if you don't like, that's fine, it's NOT for you. Don't bother to...

Yeah Yeah most won't like it.. Wood on AR

Did you miss where it's a 20" bull barrel???? Sling that around my neck???? are you crazy???? :D Most of the responses about the front hand guard mimic my own feelings.. I am seeing me thinning it down quite a bit.. maybe either making the strips wider so they almost touch. still...

Yeah Yeah most won't like it.. Wood on AR

PedalBiker. it's similar to the plastic butt stock I originally purchased. I laminated the 2 walnut outside pieces over a 1/2" oak plank to set the keyway. I then bored the 1.18" hole on a buddy's metal lathe. I could have stopped with a tighter fit, but wanted to make sure the wood would...

Yeah Yeah most won't like it.. Wood on AR

Agreed, the fore end is my LEAST favorite. My original attempt was turning (literally and figuratively ) out FANTASTIC. Right until I screwed up. I will most likely rework the front hand guard, even if you guys had liked it. Though fat is kinda nice.. to grip.. The "next" one will...

Yeah Yeah most won't like it.. Wood on AR

but, Everybody has plastic of composite on their ARs.. how about something with some nice grain structure. I kept the adjustable stock for various shooters to use. It's Walnut and Oak accents. The walnut us actually pretty light, but not that a 20" bull barrel rifle is going for anything...

    Why fewer side eject levers?

Can you picture John Wayne or Chuck Connors swing cocking their lever actions with a scope on top? :fire:
