Think shotguns will ever be "cool" again?

Shotguns are cool, but they have capacity and recoil problems. These are largely solved by 1.75" shells and the Mossberg 590S. Shorty shells have smaller payloads, but produce less recoil and higher capacities. The short shell requires redesign to the feed mechanism to function reliably, but...

Mossberg 88 vs Stevens 320: budget blasters

Mossberg 88. Fantastic budget shotgun. No deal on Chinese guns. .

S&W sales down by 47%; misses target; stock drops almost 17%

People are getting squirrelly about the economy, and food and fuel prices. Everyone I know is cutting back on non-essentials and trying to batten down the hatches. They may buy a gun or two, but it will be more utilitarian, functional purchases.

    S&W 617 22lr 6 shot

I bought a 617 6-shot revolver with 6" barrel about 25 years ago. It was my first handgun. It has served me extremely well. I will never sell it, and will pass it on to my oldest child.

    Armor plate for student backpack?

Well, of course it needs to be paid for. As much as I hate to suggest it, make the Feds.and the State governments pay it. They're the ones pushing for compulsory education, and who have ruined free market education. Inspect and evaluate schools and determine which ones can get by with upgrade...

    Armor plate for student backpack?

There are 131,000 schools, with a lot of them built on the cheap. They obviously cannot be replaced all at once, but a lot of them can be upgraded for better security, and new schools can be better designed.

    Armor plate for student backpack?

It could be. Ukraine would have been well served to have armor, clotting agents, and personal arms prior to the Russians invading. Maybe schools should be built with a secondary purpose of civil defense shelters equipped with medical supplies, emergency rations, and the ability to actually...

    Armor plate for student backpack?

There are about 130,000 K-12 schools in the U.S. with about 49 million students. The odds of a student being involved in a mass shooting is very, very low. The vast, vast majority of people aren't demented or evil enough to cause that kind of trouble. Very rarely, there is a confluence of...

Most effective short barreled big game stopper

So, are we talking about hunting bears at distance, or stopping charging bears? Longer ranges favor longer barrels and bottlenecked cartridges with lighter projectiles and higher velocities, especially if the hunter has the time to take a good, clean shot. Stopping charging bears favor...

    #4 Buckshot Effective?

No. 4 buck is excellent for defensive use. It has adequate penetration and more pellets than 00. At close range, there is little pattern dispersion, anyway. Due to packing efficiency, the mass of the No. 4 buck load should be higher. Assuming the same velocities, more mass is better.

    Dad gave me this today.

Bolt action shotguns are awesome. They're tough, light, economical, and functional. Yes, they're a bit slow, even with internal magazines, but if you're a good and patient shooter, this won't be a bother. Pumps and autos came to dominate the market due to waterfowlers' propensity for getting...

    Dependable pump shotgun

Mossberg pumps are all great values. I'd get a 590, but an 88 or 500 are both solid choices. If you have deeper pockets, a 590A1.

You Asked for it, You Got It; .30 Super Carry.

I think everyone is missing the point on this round. Given the pressure and similarities to .327 Federal Magnum and .30 Carbine, this round will provide near 9mm performance in pistols, but will considerably exceed 9mm performance in SBRs and carbines. Also, 30 round 9mm sized mag will hold...

    Ruger 9mm Carbine Defense?

Many handgun cartridges were designed as carbine cartridge and longer barrels. When 9mm Parabellum was developed, longer barreled pistols, some having detachable shoulder stocks, were popular with militaries. Also, submachine guns were being developed. Similarly, .45 Long Colt was developed...

found some 22lr at walmart . at first i was happy...

I have shot a lot of wiggly .22 ammo. I've never had any issues. I've never conducted more scientific accuracy and precision testing at longer range, but it isn't a problem for casual plinking or close range pest control.
