Interesting Couple Of Minutes This Morning.

"But to an observer, and perhaps to the subject himself, you were threatening him with a gun. You reasonably appeared to be committing an assault. Because of the subject's demeanor and actions, you should be able to legally justify your acts, but that's taking the analysis to yet another level...

"So now homeless people are a "threat"? Good grief." "Crazy" homeless people with knives.

Almost thought I was in yet another bad situation last night

". . . I could still hear this lady yelling something, then I heard a vehicle start up. So now I'm probably 1/2 mile from that property when I hear the same vehicle coming up the road, nothing unusual, just driving along normal. . . ." The yelling says it's not normal. Step out of the light...

    Heirloom Gun Stories

Barn Gun My Dad had a great friend, a businessman. When I was age 13, in 1973, the friend gave me his father's Ithaca 12-gauge side-by-side double. He said he did it because my Dad had raised his kids in the outdoors. (Dad wasn't a hunter, more of a football and baseball guy.) The shotgun...

tell me about the 25 auto cartridge?

"During the struggle, the girl fired a shot from a .25 caliber handgun, and the bullet passed through Vivian’s hand and struck Zeitz in the side of his chest, killing him." http://www.ajc.com/news/news/16-year-old-craigslist-shooting-suspect-to-be-char/nhNmz/ It can happen . . . .

Troubled By Pack Dogs or Wolves(?)

"I say canines because I'm not sure what they were. " Probably coyotes but I can't say without a photo. You might try trapping them, it's a fun pasttime. Look at www.trapperman.com for lots of good info. On 18 acres you have no land restrictions, I assume. (Alabama law applies, you might...

    Summer carry, new gun.

I bought a 738 to fill the gap between a .45 and a .22 during the summer months. It's extremely accurate, no failures, and very comfortable because of its small size and slim frame. I sometimes worry because it has no safety -- double-action only. I use a Tagua IWB holster, which is OK...

I had to use my gun in self defense for first time

Rabies :what: It's been mentioned, but I'll say it again. There's no recovering from rabies -- rabies = dead. So if you have to shoot an animal like a raccoon under those circumstances, don't shoot the head because animal control has to send the head to its lab to be evaluated for rabies...

Taurus TCP 738; Reliable or Not?

Great Piece I had a Kel-Tec P-3AT. It went back to the factory 3 times before it was right. Then it was 100% and I carried it for years, until I traded it last fall for a Taurus PT-22 (I needed a .22 pistol for trapping). I also have a PT-145, and I previously had a PT-140. Yesterday I...

    Pizza and guns

My brother and his wife moved at 11:00 p.m. without plan or notice, to another state, after having been robbed at gunpoint (one placed in the mouth) five times between them in 1 week while delivering Domino's pizzas. They just jumped in the car and moved. Never looked back. That must've been...

I Got a Cool Little 22 Pistol Today

I just traded for a 2009 model (not polymer). Shot 100+ rounds last weekend. Remington Golden Bullet 36 grain, 1280 fps rounds caused lots of FTFs. (I had 100s of rounds on hand.) I noticed that when shooting those rounds the slide seemed to hesitate. There just wasn't enough power to...

Why so much disdain for the .25 acp?

After reading this thread, and carrying a .45 and alternately a .380 daily, I really, really, really want a .25 ACP with a tip-up barrell to carry in my pocket. It's on my list now. I might even share it with my wife! (But she prefers her .32 revolver.) Not kidding.

Advice Regarding Purchasing a Taurus .45 ACP

I have a PT145 which I bought for $300, used, which in Georgia last year was a very good price. Flawless performance. Easy carry every day.
