    How Many are Now Carrying a Cane?

    My favorite cane is the "Bubba Stick" which is heavy duty for sure. For dress up trips I have a 150+ year old silver handled walking cane.

    Caliber suggestion?

    I too like the 6.5mm bullet. I use it in the 6.5 Swed, the 6.5 Grendel, and the 6.5 x 284. Each and every one will do wonders on game.

    Any hunting experience with Leupold firedot reticle?

    I have one mounted on my CZ550FS in 9.3x62. Two years I took a nice eight point at dusk with it. Too dark to see the crosshairs but the dot was there and I got my shot.:D

    Some may "ding you" for your choice of the AR-10, but the .308 can do it all with the right bullet. A .308 AR should have been the choice of the military anyway....... bet that gets some comments!:neener:

    What's a good 7.62x39 factory load for deer hunting?

    I shot a doe with my SKS, using the 154gr load, a couple years ago. One shot, one doe. For close range it is deadly. If you are shooting to 200 meters go with the Hornady load as it shoots a lot flatter.

    .223 got the job done, but...

    Your deer in Nebraska are NOT the size of Florida Swam Deer or the average Southern Whitetail. Always over gun (larger caliber) for the larger animal. I have a 6.5 Grendel, a 6.8 Rem and a 6mm/.223 (the 6/45) any of these will do the job. Of the three calibers listed I like the 6.5 Grendel...

    Oldest rifle you currently own!

    1884 Springfield 45-70 Carbine I like it as well as my 1896 US Krag 30-40 Krag Carbine. Both have taken deer and are a joy to shoot.:D

    Which 45-70 lever action?

    Well I am still happy with my Jap Winchester 1886 to date. I installed a small red dot using a Taylor mount and it is deadly and fast. No regrets here......

    AR Triggers

    It's a "combat rifle" made for Joe <deleted>. That being said, you are correct the triggers leave a lot to be desired. All my triggers have either been "worked" or replaced with a better trigger.:banghead:
