    Schuster plug settings

Has anyone found a way to mark the position of a Schuster plug in the M1 Garand for different ammo loads? Would be nice to just know where to crank the screw to go from one ammo type to another rather than having to figure out each time.

Passing on firearms and background checks

Has anyone had experience dealing with transfer of firearms after death? We will have a professional personal rep. Does she need to have background check while in "possession" of my safe and firearms? How to navigate the maze of laws?

Interview – Pia Clerté: It is not possible to have any tool for the purpose of selfdefense in Sweden

America is pretty unique, I think. My wife's home country of Australia not so much. One Aussie gent opined that if a "copper" were to see a bat behind someone's front door, it would be assumed to be a weapon and the homeowner arrested for weapons violation. Self defense is pretty much...

    Gun Safe Location?

Garage, bolted down, structure behind to make cable attachment difficult. I have 1/8" angle steel to support the safe off the floor and protect from tools being used under the safe. The safe is a Sturdy with enhanced walls and door. A brown flannel sheet draped over it makes it melt into the...

I won't own a gun that won't function with any ammo I feed it

I would NOT use any firearm that is the least finicky off the range. For repeating firearms this means revolvers for SD, maybe bolt action rifles. I have had no problems with my Mossberg 500. I have semi rifles only for historical value, though I do shoot one on the range. I have one semi...

    Speed Reloads & Cylinder Machining

Most competition shooters use moonclips. I find that the HKS fail to release rounds and gave up on them after much tooling around. After using my 627 PC V-comp with moonclips, my other revolvers got machined for the same. To qualify for IDPS I have Safariland speed loaders. My carry is a 4"...

    Giving Smith a shot

I am a solid S&W fan and all my revolvers are Smiths, but when you are talking something like the J frames, have you checked out the Ruger LCRs? Nice trigger. A fellow shooter let me try his out and I'll have to say that if I go for a backup carry for my 4" S&W M66, the LCR would be the first...

M1 Garand clip does not eject

I asked help for this on one forum or another but cannot find my post. Anyway, I've found the answer and thought I'd share just in case I'd posted here in THR. The issue was that after emptying, the clip failed to eject. I had to pull the stock to get it out. As it turns out, I was trying to...

    Over 60 shooting

72 here and dealing with these issues. I've used progressive lenses for a couple of decades and find that the sweet spot for the front sight is not useful. Maybe that can be customized--will have to talk to the optician. In the meantime single vision is better but I need the progressives out...

    California compliant?

I'm looking at a Sportsmans Warehouse ad for S&W revolvers. The same model with same general feature--barrel length, grip, etc--is listed twice, with one listing asterisked and noted as being California compliant. Also $10 higher price. Can't find anything that explains what the difference is...

What gun companies have the best customer service?

Had excellent service and turn around on a Ruger MK512. Unfortunately the repair changed the serial number meaning I had to spend more money for California hoops to get my own gun back. Instead, I put it on consignment to let the next buyer pay the fees and used the money from that for a...

    Australia’s gun laws not working

    That is precisely correct.

    Australia’s gun laws not working

Violence by means other than firearms is the Aussie tradition. Per my Aussie wife it is common to get punched out for irritating people. If I remember from my last look at the Australia Institute of Criminology data, the non firearms rate of deaths and violence was at least twice the firearms...

Why Aren't 2A People Worked up About Securing Guns?

I am good with encouraging firearms owners to secure firearms. Part of being responsible. AND I have no problem with financial assistance from government or private sources to help people to be able to afford a small secure storage. For a minimum of firearms, though. If they can afford many...
