I don't think Kimbers are up to the hype or price. There's dozens of other manufactures making a better 1911 for less money. with todays machining technology, any company who says you have to shoot 400 rounds of premium ammo before the gun is considered reliable is simply producing unreliable...

The other problem is that your new .57 cal rifle would be considered a "destructive device" under the ATF and have to be registered, taxes paid etc. Lot of messing around for 0 gain over the .50.

Jacketed bullets are considerably harder to push down the barrel than lead bullets which results in higher pressures. The company is probably covering their butt because 1.- they have no idea what the condition of your gun is, 2.- black powder guns were never designed to handle modern load...

My local black powder shop says he's having trouble getting percussion caps and lead balls because the manufactures are using all the components and manpower to make modern ammo to try and meet that demand. Black powder shooters are pretty low priority to the manufactures right now.

Sounds like you have it set to deep or your brass is way out of spec(too long) and the shell is bottoming out in the die and getting crushed. A neck size only die is a collet that "squeezes" the neck. There should be no downward force on the shell that would cause that.:confused:

I've owned on for years and never had an issue. I also switched to a B & C stock shortly after I got it. Big improvement and worth every dime. There's several companies that make detachable magazine conversions for the 700. Most kits use M14 / M1A magazines and from what I've read they work...

Regardless of what type of gun, it would have to meet all of the Federal import criteria and would have to be processed through an importer that's licensed to do so. Wouldn't be impossible to do but may not be worth the time and money....and would take a lot of time and money:(

8mm-308 Norma I inherited a custom Mauser in 8mm-.308 Norma Magnum. Came with custom made dies to reload. It's a .308 Norma magnum case necked up to 8mm. Somebody put a lot of time and money building this which doesn't make sense because the ballistics are identical to the .338 Winchester...
