Won a turkey shoot! I'm hooked

Turkey/Spot/Card shoots are great fun, best part locally is the food sold at the shoots. Here in Southern Indiana there big crowds. Single rounds are sold for hams and beef shoots can go up to over $500 worth of beef.

I have patterns for leather flask holders, cap boxes, and holsters. I think I got them from the old tandy leather company.

Why do i always shoot left?

Close your hand, and simulate pulling the trigger without a gun in your hand. This way you can feel how the hand muscles work. If you have movement to the left that will answer your question. From the group size it seems that you have everything else working. As stated, it could be the sights also.

    finaly shoot my 1860

csa 77, you do realize that shoot a cap and ball dry without wads or lube over the balls can result in a chain fire. Not real fun and can damage your pistol. I have found around 32 grains of FFF with a .454 ball shoots good in my pistol. At the range I use blue and gray lube over the balls, if...

    Front stuffing scattergun.

Chokes West Kentucky, Years ago I tried some of the old herters plastic shot cups in my double. Boy was that high on the learning curve. At 25 yards the shot cup hit the back stop and made one large hole in the target. I love BP shotguns, you can achieve almost any pattern with just the load...

Left hand shooter - right hand flinter

My son in law is lefty, he learned to shoot with one of my rifles (right handed) once I saw he liked shooting I built him a left handed rifle. He never got used to shooting a rifle with the lock on the left side and still shoots a right handed rifle. I have seen rifles built for lefties with the...

How does the flint rub on the way down the frizzen?

Sparks from the frizzen are small pieces of metal shaved by the flint from the frizzen. Yes long smoother strike causes more sparks, if the frizzen is hardened correctly and the the lock is tuned correctly. The frizzen spring only holds the frizzen closed and a correctly tuned lock doesn't need...

Been Hankering After A Flintlock Long Gun

First question is how much would you be willing to spend? Being from Nothern Ky, there are many black powder clubs in the area. Buck Snort has a trade show where there are many venders selling rifles. Lots of gun builders in the area also. The guns from India are fine for someone who has some...

    Accuracy Woes...

What powder charge, what size ball, what type of patch, what type of lube? Those have to be provided to even start to give any answers. Also yes a dirty bore does effect accuracy. Sighting in you should wipe the bore after each shot. A smooth bore properly loaded will give good accuracy at 75...

    Stevens Model 54A

Anyone have an idea where I can get parts for a Stevens Model 54A? I have one with a broken bolt. The reduced part of the rear of the bolt is broken and the two parts separate. I have tried gun parts, numerich, midwest parts and a complete internet search but no luck.

    Lyman Universal Case Trimmer

Hi, Had a friend give me a Lyman Case Trimmer. Have a question on lyman trimmer owners. How is the knurled handle held on. The one I was given won't stay on the cutter shaft where the knurled handle fits on the turner. Looked at lyman's web site but the instruction pictures for parts are real...

    Help picking a press.

I have an old rockchucker and it is named wrong. It should be solid as a rock. I don't use it as much anymore as I have a old dillon 450jr for pistols and a new lee turret press for rifle. I know it is not designed for large rifle cases but it works good in the non progressive mode. I just like...
