Low- to mid-range 1911 battle. The best "pound for pound" (dollar for dollar?)

Welp, I ended up going with the parkerized Springfield Mil-Spec for $620. I weighed all the factors - price, features, upgrades, warranty service - and went with the Springfield primarily to have a strong frame and slide to start with, backed by Springfield service. After lots of in-store...

The basic ATI 1911 is made by SAM, too. Same gun you're talking about?

Yeah, I checked them out. They look pretty nice. A little out of the price range I was thinking, though.

Got a concealed carry question for you experienced

That last bit isn't really the case. It's not about fashion (you haven't seen what I generally wear, so I couldn't expect you to know, but "fashion" doesn't always describe it), but about comfort. As for practice, I don't have or shoot range-exclusive guns aside from a .22. Honestly, I don't...

Haha. Truth. It's just a nit-picky consideration of trigger weight. Something to differentiate the models.

I don't know that I get what you're saying here. Any weapon I carry I will be proficient with, or I wouldn't be carrying it.

My SP101 seems to fit the contours of my body in the 5 o'clock IWB position better than my M&P9c. I do wear them in different holsters, though, and the SP101 is pretty heavy, and as David noted, the practicality of more rounds and faster reloads - if you're carrying more than what's just in the...

Low- to mid-range 1911 battle. The best "pound for pound" (dollar for dollar?)

Oops. I think I meant the Spartan, not the Trojan. My mistake. I'm assuming a price point below $700 or $800. That Trojan is not really part of this set. Editing my original post. Are any of the others priced above that threshold?

So that one is more of a mil-spec gun, right? Where does it stand in terms of trigger and price?

You say small hands because of the hammer bite, I presume. But the Tisas have those bulky smooth wooden grips if I'm not mistaken. The RIA I held had them, too. Would those rounded ones be easily swappable for the flatter double-diamond-style slabs?

At 6'0" 165 I imagine you're very thin. I'm 5'8" and 160 and being thin makes concealed carry challenging in warm weather for me. The advice here seems generally good, but depending on your dress, I would call that CZ 75 Compact the upper limit of comfortable concealability with what I...

Smith M&P 9mm Accuracy and Extraction Fixed?

There may have been a second change to the barrels. I have a June 2013 gun and it has two dimples on the lug, perhaps signifying a second revision?

OK, so I did a little searching and reading to go along with my previous knowledge of 1911s, but found that people often ask more specific questions or leave out considerations that I'd love to see the more knowledgeable weigh in on. So I'll present this task to you: let's figure out the best...
