    Ruger Security Six 357mag

I bought a Ruger Security 6 used back in the summer of 1979. Third hand -- a friend to a friend to me. I used that gun when I went through the police academy in 1981 and in the very early part of my police career. I still have the gun. About five or six years ago I realized that I hadn't shot...

    Do you carry a S&W J-Frame revolver?

I really like 3 inch Chief Specials. I've had a 3 inch (tapered barrel) M36 for years (bought it i 1981 when I was in the police academy for an off duty/backup gun), bought a model 60 3 inch about five years later, and then in recent years have acquired a 36 heavy barrel, a 60-15 in .357 magnum...

“Hero” charges into gunfight and is killed by police

A few thoughts: (1.) What a tragedy (2.) Most cops never respond to an incident where a private citizen uses deadly force to defend themselves, either in or out of the home. They might not have ever thought about that situation, and they probably have never received any training on how to...

    22 short why not 22lr

.22 shorts are the only ammo I've been able to find for the last few weeks. Fortunately, I have a couple of .22 revolvers to shoot them in. I've been doing a lot of strong hand only/weak hand only practice at 7 yards.

"What does breaking the 180 mean?" Or: how to get DQ'ed from a handgun match

Stage designers should be very careful about how they design their courses of fire. They should take into consideration the skill level of the majority of shooters that are going to come to their match.

What will the new Glock 44 eat?

We are assembling a good body of data here. 30+ years ago I shot thousands of rounds of Remington Golden Bullets. I remember them being of higher quality than they are today. That makes me sad . . .

What will the new Glock 44 eat?

Back about 1982 or so I started accumulating .22 conversion units or .22 cal equivalents of my various guns to allow me to practice for cheap. My normal practice has been to shoot about 1000 rounds a month of .22 indoors in the winter. In January I bought the first Glock 44 I ever saw. I...

    2A Sanctuaries & Constitutionality

We are largely sailing into uncharted waters here . . . . I hope the ship of state doesn't hit an ice burg. It will be fascinating (and maybe frightening) to see how things develop in Virginia. I hope the protests on Monday the 20th are peaceful.

Which mandatory prison sentence required by Federal Law might that be? Do you have a specific reference to US Code?

    Suppressor Or Not For HD

I have about six sets of Peltor Active Hearing protectors around. All bought on sale at different times from Midway USA. I think they're great and the enhanced audible acuity would come in handy should one have to conduct a search or actually fire in a self-defense situation. I have a pair of...

    Gun shop and range idiocy

Whenever I read a discussion like this I am reminded that not all gun owners are as careful, as skilled, as trained, or as responsible as the members of this group probably are. And it's the actions of fools and criminals that form perceptions about guns in the minds of the unfamiliar.

Elderly Vet's Guns Confiscated After He Voices Concern About Potential School Shooting

My understanding in this instance is that there was no "red flag" law involved in this incident. In Massachusetts, local law enforcement has great discretion over who gets to have a firearms permit or not.
