What have you done in the reloading room today

Nice! I'm primarily using UT 42 from the Utah plant. I have several thousand cases from ammo I've shot. Once it's gone I'll move into my 50s brass. My grandkids will probably use my 60s stuff.... No clue about the 70-80s brass lol. Here is my rare one. LC 41 30-06. Lake City started...

More yes and no added to that... SAAMI was established in 1926. M1 ball was adopted in 1925...first loaded lots were in 1926 starting with FA lot 900. SAAMI spec was 50k CUP (not psi)for 30-06... The M1 and other 30-06 weapons were built around this 50k CUP SAAMI limit. M2 ball came out around...

Sorry you don't like actual results collected in a SAAMI spec ballistics lab. I'm sure in time you'll get over it.

    M2 Ball Yaw?

Been doing it for years....still haven't found any that causes concern. As stated earlier...the warmest (superformance 180grn) is ~7% higher than the warmest milsurp loading. Nearly all commercial ammo is at the milsurp pressure or lower. But if you can find any that has specifically damaged...

I would love to see a list of commercial ammo that you can NOT shoot in the garand because it WILL cause damage.

What research shows a 180grn load is dangerous??

    M2 Ball Yaw?

I'm sure you meant IMR 4676. FGMM isn't that stout depending on what lot you are using. And milsurp can be quite stout depending on what lot you are using. The actual facts are the port pressures are basically the same for milsurp and commercial and there isn't a need to do anything other...

    M2 Ball Yaw?

Yep...blanks are more of a problem than live ammo simply because they are overgassed and no way to rapidly depressurize like with live ammo. Thats one reason you see the high bolt speeds. I tune all my local VFW garands and have them running like a top. Other units don't have as much luck. I...

    M2 Ball Yaw?

Let me answer your question with a question.... Where does CMP get THEIR information to support THEIR claim? What magically happens if you load a 175gr bullet or a 220gr bullet or even a 250gr Whelen bullet in your garand....since garands ARE in 35 Whelen AND 458 WinMag. I mean this is the...

Thank goodness we aren't hunting with blanks!

Already have... Milsurp ammo operates from (approximately) 8500psi to 11000psi at the port. Commercial ammo is from (approximately) 9200psi to 11700psi(Horn Superformance 180gr) Highest commercial is ~7% more pressure than highest milsurp load.
