As a side note, it was one of the items that was deleted during the Clinton Regime. People were paying big money for pre-ban guns with the lug. Get it for an investment.
I have an R-25 and after some trigger work I am happy with it. Rock River Arms makes a better gun for less money if you want to get on the waiting list. Armalite has some nice ones too.
a .223 will tear them up good but forget tracking them if they dont drop dead on impact. If you hit a boar in the shields you probably wont see a drop of blood. head or neck and you are golden.
make sure the little dial with the L and R adjustments is on the right side and the little dial with the Up and Down is on the top when you remount it.
After a heavy range session clean the action and clean barrel with a copper cutting solvent. run an oiled patch thru to simulate a fouling shot so there is no flier next time I go hunt or to the range.

As the other posters have said. a two stage is a safe way to make a military trigger perform like a target trigger. If you take apart your trigger group and inspect the sear/bearing surfaces you will see how a two stage takes the classic creep plagued design and makes it predictable and crisp...
Timney AR triggers are very good and will last forever. For the AR they are almost $200 and most of that is paying for the drop in convenience. You can get a good hammer/disconnect/trigger/spring kit for less than half the price and once installed you might not know which is which in the Pepsi...
