Question on Rifle temporary cavitation effects

Go shoot a deer with a relatively high-velocity rifle cartridge like a .270 or 7mm Magnum with an expanding bullet. There's usually a "tunnel" of completely mangled flesh 2-3" in diameter following the bullet path. It is not at all uncommon to turn the entire lungs into paste.

    Scope : how much beating

    >>You're talking apples and oranges comparing ASOG to Leupold, Nikon, Burries, etc. One is for crude pointing, the other category for aiming. Which do you intend to do? Have you ever used an ACOG? They're not high-magnification scopes, but their glass is as good as anything I have ever used and...

    Scope : how much beating

I have had a Burris Fullfield on my primary deer rifle for a bit over 10 years and it has never lost zero. I am not particularly gentle with the rifle. It's a nice scope for how inexpensive it is.

What gun for an offshore boat?

My dad kept a stainless Ruger Mini-14 on his (saltwater) fishing boat for years with no rust issues. I think it's a pretty good choice.

    7mm Magnum?

It just seems a little excessive to me. :) I have had exactly one deer move more than 10 feet when shot with my 7mm-08. I'll take the lighter cartridge that will cause a little less meat damage if I slip up and shoot into the shoulder rather than just behind. With that said, I have one my...

    7mm Magnum?

I agree with part of the initial statement... I think 7mm Rem Mag is a little heavy for deer. The deer that I have seen that have been shot with it have looked like someone threw a brick through the chest cavity.

Will this fit my AR? (yes Im a nub)

That's not really how parallax works... you get one distance at which the scope is parallax free, and get parallax at all other distances, closer and farther.

OK...a .410, pump action with rifle sights, where can I get one?

The decibel scale as applied to sound essentially measures the energy of the pressure waves. A 3db increase is double the energy. However, our ears do not hear on a linear scale... 3db is about as small a change in volume that the human ear can differentiate. 10db (or a little more than eight...

    Looking for 7mm-08 bolt-action SS

I have a Remington 700 in 7mm-08 in stainless with a synthetic stock... I like it a lot. I like the cartridge, I like the rifle, and I like not having to worry too much if it gets wet or if I get my hands on the barrel when I'm putting it away.

We can argue all day about whether MS Paint is free or a part of the cost of Windows. I suppose technically we should say it should be a part of the cost of Windows, but it is such a small part it probably adds up to less than $0.01. A more pressing matter: you can't trust anything on the...

By this logic, you shouldn't trust Paint, either. :)

Alright, fine, I suppose if you want to do a proper job of drafting a drawing in Paint, you can call it "blueprinting." However, a scale drawing is not a blueprint. What you have done is basically taken all the negatives of hand drafting and combined them with all the negatives of computer...

As a piece of honest advice with the best intentions. Please do yourself a favor and either save up $100 for a copy of the current version of TurboCAD or $50 for an old version. Hell, download a free CAD program like AllyCAD or A9CAD or CADX11. I've seen a lot of these threads, and no matter...

    too much magazine capacity?

I will agree that you have to adapt your lifestyle somewhat. However, a 15 round handgun does not exist that is anywhere close to as small as a j-frame revolver or single stack pocket .32, .380, or 9mm. Not even in the same ballpark. And all of those guns can go in a pants pocket, and if anyone...
